Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Weekends off.

Cons

High stress calls. The call volume is so high there are no breaks between calls. The most extreme micromanagement I’ve ever encountered at a job. The metrics are near impossible to hit. They allow 1% of your time to be in an AUX5 (unscheduled break) status, which breaks down to 4.4 minutes a day. Weekly meetings were spent discussing/ being reprimanded for “excessive” bathroom use (typically 8 minutes or less a day) when I was consistently hitting 100% for all other metrics. It was honestly dehumanizing to have to justify minutes of the day being spent on normal bodily functions to management.

Pros

Currently working from home. If I wasn’t I’d never be able to complete the workload I have.

Cons

They are sending us back to the office but that’s not the part that upsets me. They aren’t giving employees any notice. I only know bc a friend who is higher up from me told me but I was told I can’t tell my employees. People have sold cars and moved further from the office and being told I can’t tell them so that they can plan is very upsetting. It goes against USAA’s core values of honesty and integrity and it’s a lack of respect to employees who work really hard for not a lot of pay. They also made it clear they won’t be increasing pay despite the economy and sending people back to the office who live an hour or more a way is a huge pay cut. As a manager they also keep increasing our workload, adding unnecessary meetings to our calendar which makes it more and more difficult to complete the already heavy workload.

Pros

- Benefits are really good, and they do try to take care of employees with them. - Everyone really cares about the mission - It seems to be that frontline employees are taken care of - Working in Insurance side of the house seems to be positive

Cons

- The corporate side is a complete mess culturally, especially if you work in Enterprise and have to deal with multiple lines of business. - the Bank culture is completely toxic, and bleeds into any groups that support them. It's a top-down problem where we regularly hear of VPs yelling at their staff, or being given unrealistic deadlines to meet arbitrary goals - IT will be cost cutting for a few years at least. Any person joining as a Contractor should know they can be let go at a moments notice.
