Pros

Benefits, Perks, Stability. Great place to start at and build up your resume before moving on to better opportunities.

Cons

Over worked. Underpaid. Don't expect to negotiate salary it a take it or leave it thing. The raises here are a joke. They try to sell you on the bonus and the benefits. Call center Environment. Adjuster can never work on diaries or claims because management wants you on the phone at all time and be able to work 100s of diaries during 3 seconds of downtime between calls.Customers are always pissed off with the lack of attention they get, Also, don't expect to take time off for vacation or whatever personal time you may need. Time off calendar is always booked several months ahead of time. So they force you to take unplanned time off and then complain. Example. If you need to go to the dentist or doctor better push your appointment several months out because its impossible to get time off for the following week. Growth Opportunity is limited. If you hired on as a claims adjuster they push for you to stay a claims adjuster. If you want to go to another department you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Customers are always pushy and whiney never satisfied. If you like your sanity STAY AWAY. If this is something you're interested in then go for it :). This place can wear out your mind, body and soul.

Pros

They provide the tools to get the job done- extensive training, real-time resources, clean, bright and modern facilities. Culture messages from corporate make you feel appreciated and part of an important mission to protect our military families. Pay is average for the area but there is a certain pride working for USAA.

Cons

Managers don't drink the same flavor of Koolaid. Personalities are laid bare unless their director is around, or someone from the Home Office in San Antonio. Gossip is not only encouraged but you can be rewarded for dishing the dirt on a coworker the manager dislikes. Never had a problem when I was a simple policy writer but once you get into a higher position the management quality deteriorates to the point where whole teams despise coming to work and resumes start flying.

Pros

Benefits, decent salary for non-college graduate, free fitness facilities, initial good impressions are made and genuine concern for your thoughts and feelings, and many healthy options for lunch.

Cons

Detached, alienating, overly conservative, herd mentality, fake, and arrogant work environment. You feel like you're walking among drones. Everything is great there until it's not. You'll understand if you work here.
