Pros

Mission driven company, with fundamentally good corporate values.

Cons

Large, middle management heavy organization, leads to lack of strategic clarity. Lack of clarity & accountability can lead to risk-averse & defensive "CYA" decision making.

Do not let them lie to you. The job really sucks

Pros

Really the only pros are the benefits, and most of the people you work with.

Cons

Management is horrible. They pretend to care about you but really don't. This is a call center job. You are tied to a phone all day long. The people who call in are never in a good mood. The people who call in scream and yell because their bill is too high or they cant pay their bill and its USAA's fault somehow. Management will get mad if you take a 5 minute unscheduled break to go to the restroom. They will tell you day one that "ITS NOT ABOUT THE NUMBERS. ITS ALL ABOUT THE MEMBERS." That is a lie. If your numbers are not good enough, your manager will get mad at you and when your numbers are good, they find something else to nit pick on. The management there is very condescending. They care more about the members satisfaction than their own employees well being. They tell you after 1 year, you can move anywhere with in the company, but there are people there who have been doing the same jobs for 10 years. There is no room for growth.

Pros

9-5 job, pay for education, & work with 80% of staff who hate the company too so it makes it tolerable.

Cons

Horrible new CEO, micro managers, track every minute on phone, not competitive on pay & gets worse every year, non-transparency, managers play basketball while your shackled on the phones, don't promote out of call center to non call center rolls even if you're qualified, make me so depresessed I can't enjoy my life with family, no commissions, everything is for the betterment of reserve funds in company and no focus on employee happiness, & they'll close Addison site in 5 years.
