Pros

You can learn lessons that will carry you through for a lifetime in health insurance...some good, some not so good

Cons

Read the contract. There is a reason that this company looks for hiring "rookie" agents. In fact, the leaders get incentivized on hiring new agents, and they get MORE points when the agent is brand new to insurance...why? I would contend that it is because you need someone who doesn't know any better to sign up for this pyramid scheme! If you aren't the person to read and understand the contract, take it to an attorney...I can't imagine a lawyer would advise anyone to sign it. Things that are an issue: you are building a book of business for THEM day 1. Even when you're vested, you can't take those clients with you, and you will be sued if you try to go after your book of business. 2. You are marketed as an independent contractor, but there are rules and restrictions put on you from the day you join. This includes being in an office certain hours, being at mandatory meetings and the threat of being cut if you don't produce enough business. 3. You are promised IN THE CONTRACT that they will supply you with leads, but it is a total popularity contest when you get there. Some people are given leads, many are not. If you don't spend your own money on licenses and leads, you probably won't survive. 4. You are not to solicit other USHA agents when you leave, even though often times when people exit, they go to other agencies, and often their friends are the ones who told them about it. And these scoundrels will sue their agents. So much for the Mission of HOPE.

Pros

You can work as many hours as you want. You will learn a little and get some sales experience.

Cons

Your wages and returns are junk. You will make more working fast food for the same amount of time. Some bosses have serious drug addiction problems, bottles of alcohol lining their walls. Drugs passed around. Hookers visiting the bosses inside and outside the offices. You won’t get your residuals for at least three years. No benefits. It is a culture of oppression and shame, you stay or when you leave you hear your bosses were calling you a vagina for not staying.

Pros

If you don't have integrity you can make money if you work hard enough

Cons

Their job listing said this was a management opportunity looking for a sales director. When I got there, the interview had 10 people in a room watch a video and listen to a presentation from a woman who claimed that she makes $500k per year. She was pretty much recruiting people to work under her, but the job doesn't actually pay you a salary. In fact you have to pay them for almost $500 in expenses just to get started, then you have to pay to rent your desk space, pay for a headset, pay for their software subscription, and pay for every lead that you get otherwise you'll just be calling the same recycled leads that everyone has. There are some people here making like $70k but they're also spending $20k a year just to keep the job. Also your commissions are paid to you in an escrow bank account and if a customer cancels, the money gets clawed back. So if you try to quit, you might end up owing them money. The money that hits your escrow account isn't truly yours, they can take it back at any time. It's got big pyramid scheme vibes, as they want you to work under someone else to make them money. Then if you play politics good enough, they'll let you host your own little interview sessions with 5-10 people at a time and try to recruit people to work under you so you can get paid from their dials. I would never feel comfortable telling people to shell out hundreds of dollars for a chance to maybe make money that could be taken back at any time by selling junk insurance. There are a select few people high enough in the pyramid who do make solid money here, but they are few. You're better off getting a real sales job where you get a $50-70k salary plus benefits and 401k and make commissions on top of it. You'll easily make more money elsewhere and actually learn valuable skills and keep your integrity. Nobody is going to see US health on a resume and think it's a good look.
