Pros

Supportive management, realistic ratios most of the time.

Cons

Emergency Nursing will always have days with higher ratios/higher acuity patients, even on those days I still felt supported by management and staff alike. RN pay in the state is low, and theirs matches local pay rates. Recently raised med/surg RN pay by $5 an hour, not matched for other areas/specialties.

Pros

The company is taking steps to make positive changes. Many separate committees of different staffing levels to communicate things needed and next steps to implement those changes.

Cons

Company asks employees ideas for retaining staff, but doesn't follow it. More benefits have been taken away rather than staying or implementing what staff requests for. PTO is also extremely hard to use. We can build it up but then get denied or have to find our own coverage to get a day off. Many staff in radiology are doing so much overtime and getting burnt out then denied PTO.

Pros

- Great working environment - Hospital staff and visitors usually nice - Great benefits and amenities - Senior leadership was great

Cons

- Favoritism - Introverts not allowed, no exceptions. If supervisors don't like you, expect double-standards, gate-keeping, pulling-rank... It's all there. - Unfair treatment is real, and you will not pass orientation even if you've successfully met patient and staff standards. The supervisors can set unfair challenges that never happened in reality. - Be prepared to meet "expectations", which may feel personal. - Scenarios included subversive language designed to trick you when the reality was never actually like that.

Pros

Strong team dynamics. Feels like a family. Can trust co-workers and work great together. Management and education staff are very approachable and listen/work to resolve concerns and want the best for the staff and patients.

Cons

UnityPoint as a whole, like any business, cares more about cutting costs and making money than employees and the patients we care for. But overall still a fantastic place to work.
