Pros

High career visibility; competitive compensation structure; great co-workers in general; chance to be seen and make a difference, you're not "a number" here. New leaders seem really engaged and are a breath of fresh air. A lot of unrealized potential here that looks like it is going to be acted upon.

Cons

Still a bit paternalistic in spots, but getting better. There has been some micro-management and that seems to be subsiding as new leadership has come on board. Increasingly results-oriented, so if you're not....stay away...no room for career cruisers anymore. 401k profit sharing match has deteriorated over the recent past - used to be a consistent 125% of the employee contributions.

Pay is on par for industry but you will work long hours. Co-workers were great!

Cons

High combined ratio and financially unstable. 1950's management mentality. Employee moral is very low and everyone walks on eggshells. Managers don't look out for their employees only themselves!

-Workload is unbearable -management is terrible in all aspects. Inconsistent, horrible decision making, have no clue on how to operate the systems, they lie(every company lie's but its even more prevalent at utica), unable to motivate/inspire employees except by installing fear into them. -terrible results over the past couple of years in regards to their combined ratio. Expenses are wAy out of control.... -they think they are recruiting talent from other companies, however those are the scraps that other companies did not want.
