Pros

You are working with board certified and published surgeons you can learn a from. VCA teaches you a lot if you want to learn and give associates the opportunity to progress and become certified in your field which may include paying for school

Cons

Felt too corporate. People will talk about things you did that irritate them to the managers instead of discussing it with with you. Confidentiality doesn't exist.

Pros

At this point, I am only staying for the team and some DVMs. The employees are truly some of the best and most caring people I’ve ever worked with.

Cons

Management has refused to take action around complaints or suggestions from staff, and we are reaching burnout. The pay is abysmal, but from what I understand that is not directly in the control of the management at the hospital. Regardless, that doesn’t mean that what I am paid as a five-year employee of Deer Creek is reasonable. It does not feel like management is ever on the side of the staff.
