Pros
VCU Health is the only academic medical center in the region. It is also the only Level 1 Trauma Center for adults and children in the region, with physicians that are ranked among the top doctors in Richmond. It is very exciting to be a part of the greatness that is VCU Health, where the teaching and learning is a focus throughout the entire organization.
Cons
VCU Health is focused on the community and is highly ranked nonprofit company. The challenge with nonprofit is that people who choose to work for them must also have that same focus. For compensation professionals, there is a real opportunity to create packages that attract and retain talent that is focused less on monetary earning potential and more on helping others and serving in the community.
