Pros

-recordings -pay is on time -payment tab -24-hour booking options -great lessons even though they aren't interactive and do have some grammatical and English errors. some lessons also aren't sensitive to the American culture. They paint the teacher as very obese and say that Americans always eat hamburgers and hot dogs. -IT usually responds but can be rude -iPad portal option -good social media community for help (lots of drama though) -Lots of opportunities to move up in the company (but you have to work for free to get noticed) -work from home

Cons

-Can't get any certifications now. You're hired but then you have to take a test and do a 10-minute audition to be reviewed before being allowed to teach certain levels. -Seems very controlling with all their new polices -Cancellations aren't easy. You only get 6 in 6 months which is unrealistic. Many Dr. excusals aren't accepted anymore. -If you have over those excusals, they close your bookings for 2 weeks with no communication. After 2 weeks, they let you know if you can stay or go. They say there is an appeal process but no one has been successful with it. -IT watches your ever move. They will pop-in and let you know if you do something wrong. Not so relaxing to teach with knowing that. -Referrals- I had 19 applicants and only 2 passed. 3 interviews to get hired and then once you're hired, you have to audition for level certifications. -feedback and assessment feedback forms are very lengthy -booking are erratic. -They ask teachers to make videos and resources without compensation -They give tokens and activities to do during your "free time" and trade them in for things. However, if you're fired, you lose those tokens. -Many have had children die, births, or life threatening issues and have been fired and not rehired. Those who have been rehired (not listed above) do not have bookings.

Teachers are not valued.

Pros

It is great working from home. You create your own hours.

Cons

The pay scale is changing August 1, 2020. 90% of teachers are taking a pay cut. The remaining 10% will get a $20 increase per month. Teachers are not reimbursed for props, teachers are not paid to write parent feedback (which is mandatory) or write teacher to teacher feedback. They spend ridiculous amounts of money sending students marketing stuff.

Pros

Flexible hours, work from home, work/life balance

Cons

They absolutely do not care for their teachers. I have worked here for three years. VIPKID has no loyalty to their veteran teachers. You are quickly replaced by new teachers willing to work for less pay. You are not valued here, you are disposable!
