Pros

The pros of working from home on your own schedule can be found in other companies with higher pay and better employee satisfaction.

Cons

This company has no integrity. They have very low pay for the teachers and a very high rate for the students to pay for classes. The actively funnel students to teachers in the lowest level of the pay scale. They give new employees false hope of teaching many classes, when in reality you will get none after the first week of them giving you a few to lead you on. They recently have cut the pay and we as teachers are protesting their poor integrity.

Pros

.50 raise every year. I make $22/hour as a Florida Certified Teacher Best company/school to work for ever. Lessons are premade for you. Children are great, well behaved and very engaged. (Unlike brick and mortar schools in South Florida) Can work from anywhere: car, office, hotel, vacation... anywhere that is quiet! :-)

Cons

1) Lessons can oftentimes be too short for the students. The company encourages us to review the lesson for a second time (which is boring for both the kids and me!) 2) Cancellation policy is cumbersome, especially now that if you open your schedule a few weeks out, kids can schedule classes a few weeks out so if you have a change in your schedule.... you have to really make sure if you SHOULD cancel. I think more options should be available. 3) There are those students who you wish you wouldn't have at 5AM.... yet, they KEEP scheduling you:-) You have no control over who can schedule your time slot, you can see that you have 3 +/- students wanting that time slot though.

Pros

You can work around your schedule

Cons

I have worked for VIPKid for almost 3 years now. There has been some shady stuff here and there but nothing that I would quit over. Up until this week, I’ve been able to work around their changes in the company. However, they completely changed their pay scale and it has affected teachers hard. I should have known from previous issues that VIPKid does not know how to have conflict resolution. It is clear now more than ever, that they do not value their teachers nor their students and their families. They refuse to take any responsibility for the consequences of their actions. I’ve lost many students because they raise their prices high and my students can’t afford them. If you know anything about the Chinese culture, it’s that they will do anything for their child’s education. We are called independent contractors but we do not have any control over what happens to us.
