Horrible upper management. No support.

Pros

Employee discounts. Literally nothing else.

Cons

Little to no support from corporate. If hospital leadership are struggling, no one from corporate responds in a timely manner or with any measure of gravity. Instead of giving them resources to be good managers or directors, they fire them for the pettiest things. It seems like they're cleaning house at several hospitals which is going to hurt them in the end. I don't think they realize it takes good people who know what they're doing to make a productive hospital. They think labor is infinitely replaceable. People all over are learning not to work for vetcor, they're really making a bad name for themselves, especially recently. They say they're hands off, but micromanage nearly everything with the running of the clinic. Raises may as well be non-existent. They tell us raises are based on production/performance but regardless of how much the clinic makes, staff often gets raises of less than 30 cents/hour per year which doesn't even touch inflation and cost of living increase. They raise prices an exorbitant amount each year but none of the extra money is seen in employee pay. They don't value anyone at the hospital level and show it repeatedly. They make care less and less accessable to pet owners and don't seem to care. Life is not better here.

Pros

Made my transfer to a different vetcor clinic easy. Financial assistance with tech school is helpful.

Cons

Raises for staff are based off of "performance" and usually around 3%. They don't take anything like inflation or actual skills, seniority, etc into account, any added responsibility will not likely be compensated. Price increases for the hospital are based off an "algorithm" aka some Ai algorithm. Some of the increases make no sense. The HM doesn't even get to know what they are before they go into effect. There's a are policy that doesn't allow hospitals to accept prescriptions from outside pharmacies and now only from vetcors online or that hospital, or the client has to pick up a written prescription. Which is all for $ (to some extent i get but also we never see that in our raises so what to i care) and it just makes the client pissy with the staff. An issue I had with a doctor I had at my old clinic and brought up with a higher up at vetcor never got brought up again by them or resolved. They're not helpful when it comes to looking for hiring new staff.

Pros

Allows a decent amount of freedom/flexibility for clinics without seeming overbearing. Decent support network for resources the clinic needs.

Cons

The pay, it's always going to be the pay for our field.
