Pros

Flexibility Not difficult Your member relationships which have nothing to do with the company

Cons

Poor pay Fake positivity, poor management No upward mobility Management flat out lied to me around the terms of my employment. They did not even have proper HR in place when they hired me. They tried to place me on an exclusively Spanish speaking team after I was there for 6 months catering to both English and Spanish speakers and told me I had to chose one language over the other because it was easier for them BUT said if I chose English only speakers they would lower my current pay rate! My job title and offer letter never stipulated I was expected to be bilingual or work exclusively with Spanish members. I offered to do bilingual as a value add skillset but my pay rate was never exclusive to being forced to do Spanish speaking which also meant attending company meetings in Spanish as well and removing me from my current team and coworkers and was a lot more work because they were not set up as a company to properly accommodate Spanish speaking members in the same way. When I told them I preferred to stay with my current team and work with English speakers they tried to come up with a reason to let me go - probably because they reviewed the offer letter and realized they had no basis for reducing my pay rate. That’s how little they value their current employees, they are willing to let them go and fire someone else for $2 less an hour. They handled that situation so poorly.

Pros

Remote work with flexibility (not a huge pro, since that applies to a lot of therapist jobs these days), motivated and professional clients, quite reliable and user-friendly platform, support in crisis situations (though crisis procedures are unnecessarily complicated), good tech support

Cons

Poor culture and employee morale, government-style bureaucracy, cookie cutter therapy, micromanagement (they closely monitor your activities and base your performance on automated “metrics” such as word counts in messages you send to clients), constant changes in clinical and HR policies and procedures, lack of job security with sudden layoffs or demotions, little to no room for advancement, poor benefits that they sometimes take away suddenly, insufficient communication (for example, if you ask a question, you are brushed off and referred to a messy and often outdated set of Google docs to find answers), lack of understanding of the psychotherapy profession on the part of leadership, having to work lots of unpaid time (they have unrealistic limits on compensated time based on an algorithm they keep secret from providers), lots of no shows and late cancellations since there are no penalties for clients, substandard HR department you cannot reach by phone
