Pros

Okay culture, passable benefits.

Cons

Little to no control over schedule, benefits are lacking in important areas, poor manager culture, heavy politics, little-to-no opportunity to move up.

Great Place To Work, But It Could Be Better

Pros

The benefits are amazing, wage is fair. My department coworkers in Olympia are super. Love my boss. Nice new building to work in with incredible views of the sound. Great for eating lunch. Parking garage that is secured and stay cools in the summer. Flexible when I have issues with my kids seen or unforeseen.

Cons

Not enough healthy food options in café. Closest Starbucks is 5 blocks away. Required to wear corporate branded clothes in limited colors that you have to pay for except for small stipend which doesn't buy you much. The meeting culture has gotten better with less useless meetings. Low producing employees know that getting terminated is next to impossible. If you get fired from here you have really screwed up.

Pros

WSECU has too many pro's to list. Here are a few of the benefits that as a 15+ year employee feels; In branch work environment is fun, supportive and positive We are allowed to be creative, make decisions and collaborate with our team and manager The benefits for full time are great to include; generous paid time off, holiday perks, and unbeatable 401k The CEO and Board of Directors truly cares for the employees and their work/life balance~ we didn't have a lay-off during the economic downturn of 2008 when every other financial institution was closing/downsizing or merging Where else would you get to have fun, learn to be a better employee and feel completely supported with your job?

Cons

One of the few things is that could be considered a "con" is just that the positions of Leads or above are coveted because people stay in them for a long time. They don't come up often and there are a lot of people working to gain these titles and that are ready for the roles, but limited positions.

We truly appreciate the time you took to leave us a review. After more than 15 years of service, you definitely offer a valuable perspective. We’re very proud of the benefits that we offer and we definitely strive to create a supportive, stable environment, even during tough times, like the economic downturn you noted. We do hear from our Member Consultants that those lead positions are hard to get—you hit the nail on the head: they are limited relative to the number of branches. They do come open, it can just take longer for front office employees to progress. That said, for folks that are open to coming to the back office, there are dozens of departments and numerous roles to explore.
