Pros

Nice people at other offices

Cons

Let me start by saying that this company is a joke. If you are looking for a place to work that: -advertises benefits but does not offer them (that's right, NO benefits. No health insurance, no vacation/sick time, no retirement plan, etc--can vary by franchise) -has seemingly mandatory office outings -you are required to give out your personal cell phone number -allows profanity to be yelled in the office -has convoluted and nonsensical "performance evaluations" -has employees who spend more time talking about how industry savvy they are than they actually spend working (franchise owner favorites) -has delusional expectations of the job you are performing then Worldwide Express is the place for you. You make a below average salary for a college educated individual. They recruit recent college graduates because they don't know any better. Men are also paid more than women no matter their education level or experience. Not to mention that there are people allowed to do whatever they want in the offices while others are worked until their fingers bleed. This company allows shady and more or less unethical business practices to go on right underneath their noses that could potentially cost the entire company their relationship with UPS. Absolute atrocious place to work.

Pros

You gain confidence in speaking and meeting with higher-ups. You push through this job and you will appreciate your next work atmosphere exponentially more than you could ever expect.

Cons

Besides the lack of stimulation in the nature of the work....Negatives include: pay, workplace environment, complete isolation from coworkers, intimidation, no work/life balance, and generally unprofessional treatment from management (overall). This is a turn and burn sales team looking to work the next group of college graduates until they break and build up their in-house accounts. Also, plenty of hostile environment sexual harassment to go around, ladies! They try to pry into your personal life asking very personal questions and making inappropriate comments (this is them trying to make you a better sales person, okay). This is not only my experience in this office. They do not value you trying to be a good person but want another sexual selling object. If you're a male being hired on to the sales team maybe it's not so bad as far as the "person they try to mold you into"..?

Pros

You receive a week of paid training at the Hilton in Dallas. I formed many life-long friends from my training class, and although I am no longer with the company I still am in touch with the reps from my class. By far the best training program there is; it is very motivating and intense. The company culture is fantastic and you could win a lot of money from the contests. Good opportunities for advancement.

Cons

The interview did not prepare me for the actual job functions. The owner interviewed me and did a great job describing the company and culture, the trips our office would take, holidays parties, etc. I was under the impression it was an account manager position, and that I would be serving clients. You actually spend 85% of your time cold calling business-to-business, and will be forced to knock on at least 50 doors everyday. You will be expected to set up an appointment with the owner within the first few weeks. If you can't handle rejection, I would suggest not looking into this job. People will be very rude, since you are technically soliciting. I was kicked out of a prestigious office building my first week on the job. The business model is very outdated, as they only want you to start at the top, going above a VP of Ops, Controllers, etc. and set meetings with Owners and Presidents. Business owners could care less about a $250/week FedEx invoice, and you will waste your time trying to get them to meet you-the VP of Operations is there for a reason. I lost an account because I spent too much time trying to get the President on the phone; that same week a large competitor closed the Purchasing Manager. You have no control over not being able to "win" an account, as they very often can change their mind or go with another logistics company at the last minute. More often than not, we weren't actually able to price accounts, and the customer was getting better discounts than we could offer. This affects your closing ratio and will make you look unsuccessful. There is little customer appreciation, and you will lose accounts this way. They describe the base salary as being $35K-$40K+ with "uncapped commissions; it's closer to $23K+. It will take over a year to actually gain traction in your customer base and receive actual commissions over $400.
