Pros

Good pay, alternate work schedule (9/80s). They gave us employees cake a few weeks before a massive layoff so that the higher ups could get some happy photos with everyone.

Cons

Employees are currently awaiting yet another round of layoffs. The COO Mark Marano held a big meeting the week before everyone knew layoffs were coming and conveniently ignored the elephant in the room everyone was waiting for him to address. There is no transparency with regard to who or why certain people will be let go and it’s all anyone can do but stand around and guess at how layoffs will be handled. These are the employees that are left after sticking around through bankruptcy, and the reward is we all now are yet again wondering if we’re safe.

Pros

Within the working ranks, Westinghouse has some of the best and most talented people you will ever find. For the Pittsburgh region the salaries are good, the health benefits aren't what they were but still decent. Working to have safe, clean nuclear power is an important thing for the future of America and the planet.

Cons

Too many to mention. The only resemblance to the company I started with nearly 31 years ago is the name and logo, anything else is coincidence only. Today's announcement of pension freezes, on top of "limited executive travel" and reminders to watch how much we print will surely help make up for the WECTEC fiasco and $6.3 billion hit, which the auditors still will not endorse. Most of the reviews are spot on. There is a lot of lip service paid to valuing employees but actions are not consistent. Forced ratings system where every group has to have someone categorized as not worthy of their job is wrong. Not everyone may deserve a pay increase, but to force a manager to tell someone they are not worthy of the job just to meet some antiquated metric that even GE no longer uses (listening there, D-Rod?) truly saps the morale of the people doing the work.
