Pros

I really like working with the engineers and technicians at Westinghouse. I am thankful that they have a training program, although it needs more meaningful training courses.

Cons

Always be in fear of your job, because the company would rather look for ways to fire people when the work is slow instead of lay them off. We get so much e-mail about upper management moves and very little recognition for the workers. Quality is suffering at Westinghouse because many good people are leaving the company because of the way they are treated. This company is insane about safety. They just recently spent thousands of $$ to put in a slip, trip and fall trainer.

Pros

Great people to work with.

Cons

Peter Principal at work. You are promoted to the level of your incompetence. Does not have a learning cycle and therefor this company will continue to repeat past mistakes over and over again.

Pros

HQ building is nice. Free parking. There is talent here and it's great to work with them.

Cons

HR and management are a few levels below decent. I have worked here for 10+ years and didn't realize until starting to look elsewhere that employees can be treated better. There have not been raises for the past few years, employees fight over work to fill in the hours on their timesheets, and performance reviews are a joke. Performance reviews more based on how many beers you can drink versus actual competence. Nepotism and politics run rampant during review cycles. To add to it all, HR's primary focus is to save the company, not necessarily to treat their employees correctly. You will fight for 'your' interpretation of policies versus 'theirs'. I made a mistake by staying with the company for so long (10+ years). It has become cutthroat and not a pleasant place to work.
