Pros

Very little or no direct supervision. Most frontline managers or supervisors have no clue of their own employees capablities or what they are actually working on at any given time.

Cons

A culture of accepting poor performance is accommodated in-lieu of making those repsonsible for the poor performance accountable. Thus an overly touted "Nuclear Safety Culture", seems to be merly talking points for safety & quality. So many tiny projects have been done over and over and over and over and still not finished.

Trying to get away from here

Pros

There are some really good and intelligent people that are working here that have helped me in becoming a better engineer. The pay is also really good.

Cons

ALWAYS overworked and surrounded by idiots who always seem to be promoted through management. Seems like the company is trying to make it harder to allow us to make changes to design even though they need to be done at times.

Not what it used to be

Pros

Flex time is nice. Pay is good if you don't mind the mandatory unpaid overtime. Cafeteria is nice and so is the gym. It is a great place to start your career. The majority of people here are friendly and helpful.

Cons

There is always the fear of layoffs. They preach safety over schedule, but only if we can still meet deadlines. The pulling of time records makes everyone on edge and almost scared to leave the office, even during lunch. Work/Life balance is non-existent. It is expected of you to be able to come back into the office at the drop of a hat to solve a menial problem that could have waited until the next day. There have been many company wide pay freezes or pay cuts. Opportunity to advance your career here is minimal or very slow.
