Nice place for residents to live, I personally had great direct co workers and immediate boss. A lot of classes to improve skills.

Cons

THE PAY , vacation time, some treatment from residents. Used to be a great place but is deteriorating with time.

We are sorry to hear of your experience and appreciate the opportunity to share additional information. Willow Valley Communities consistently strives to be a leader in our field. Annually, we compare our wages to those of other organizations in the senior living industry in Central PA. As a result, over the last several years, Willow Valley Communities has implemented market rate wage increases in many of our departments; these adjustments were in addition to annual evaluation increases. In today’s tight labor market characterized by low unemployment, companies are continually making adjustments. So, it is not surprising that you may find a company that pays a little more today, but tomorrow yet another company may pay a higher rate. It is also important to consider total compensation—not just wages, but health insurance costs, 401k contributions, and other benefits that offer savings. Willow Valley Communities recognizes the importance of internal promotions. For these, a corporate process that requires multiple approvals is in place; thus, no team member is ever just given a position. All applicants, whether internal or external, are subject to the same interviewing and hiring process. If you would like to discuss your specific situation in further detail, we welcome the conversation. Please contact us at 717-464-2741.

Pros

Team members work hard for residents. This reflects the goodness in our world. They pay me well (though everyone else complains of being underpaid).

Cons

Unfortunately management doesn’t recognize the hard work of all team members. Working with dementia residents can be rewarding but is almost always challenging at any given time of day. Lakeside Is understaffed most of the time, call offs are rampant. I suspect this is due to poor morale rather than true illness. What’s worse is management & administration rarely pitch in to help. They do not embrace the concept of servant leadership. They say staff:resident ratios meet regulatory requirements but the reality is it’s unsafe for residents & staff with injuries happening frequently. Probably not a place I will stay long term even though they pay me well.
