Pros
The customer base is amazing for retail. Generally friendly, pleasant, often knowledgeable. It's a pleasure coming in to work, and anyone in retail knows how rare that is. And if you want to be a better woodworker, this is THE place to work. Between the employees (mostly longtime woodworkers and retired engineers) and the customers (same), the resources for learning are endless. Employee discount is substantial. The management and owner at my store are friendly, sharp, and helpful.
Cons
Part time work for low pay. Little to no chance for advancement. This is a job for people who want to kill a day or two out of their week as a hobby that pays you, not a job to support yourself on. Recommended for retirees or people looking to pick up more hours outside their current job.
