Pros

No Pros at all. None.

Cons

Company promised permanent Hybrid with one day (at discretion of management) in the office, the rest remote. That became come in if/when there is a business purpose to come in. Also stated "remote" meant anywhere in a state where Xcel does business. People changed their lives around this policy, with child care, moving away from the urban cores, etc. Then Xcel yanked it all back. Seems like the intent is to drive people away to save O&M. Given that remote work was internally rated as the most desired aspect of the job by those who could take advantage of it, this is seriously eroding trust.

Pros

Reasonable pay. Good for people with self-initiative or ambition to grow as there are lots of open positions over time. Impactful work to customers who depend on gas and electricity.

Cons

The stock price is top priority so everything else is secondary. Top-down decision-making where C-suite "knows best" and there is no accountability or discussion with employees, only to stock owners/price. It feels like we're robots to make money for the CEO. Each person is responsible for their own burnout and work loading. It all comes down to individual choice because no one else will help you with this.

Pros

Manager is flexible. Most coworkers are good people.

Cons

Leadership talks a good game to the public but treats its employees as expenses rather than assets. They take profits off the top, then decrease/ cancel benefits and resources available to employees. High turnover in general, plus now there is a hiring freeze that we all know is not temporary . No professional opportunities, they won't spend any money to help people gain certifications, education, or additional training. They show employees the same disrespect they show customers. They do not make use of the talent and skills employees have. It takes 4 teams in 3 states 8-10 weeks to make a simple decisions, employees are not empowered to stray out of their very narrow lane. For all their talk about seeking a diverse supplier base, in truth new suppliers are almost completely blocked. They keep the supplier pool as closed as possible.
