Losing the #human aspect

Pros

Some of the best people I’ve worked with, trying their absolute best despite management making life difficult.

Cons

Too much “crunch” time. Superhuman effort is now expected, leading to burnout and fatigue. HR (or PX as they like to call them) have no idea what they’re doing. A lot of staff turnover - forcing out Sergio after all he’s done for Xero, and others was criminal - leading to a lack of leadership in key areas like security. Turnover and closing down offices leads to insecurity and fear elsewhere - if San Francisco can go, who’s next? Sham internal promotion processes - interviews not conducted in good faith because a decision has already been made.

Pros

Product is simple to understand People are friendly

Cons

You get bored after three months because your role is totally not challenging. A lot of people seem to be coasting looking for opportunities on the outside If you're ambitious, smart and learn quickly you'll burn through this place in a few months

Hi there Thank you for taking the time to place some feedback. We do aim to conduct exit interviews with all our departing employees so I am sorry to hear that we may have missed a couple. We have recently moved our exit interview process to manage these through workday so there is a chance they got stuck in the system (they are not compulsory, but we like to meet with everyone before they leave to get their thoughts and feedback). I have spoken with the team here and we are going to be extra vigilant with this moving forward. Pros

- Good work life balance - Currently employed in a tough market

Cons

- Pay is subpar - Performance reviews are some of the worst I've ever experienced - Senior leadership doesn't know what it takes to run a performant engineering capability - Senior leadership are so overconfident in their decisions that they get visibly angry when questioned about their laughably poor decisions - Little to no autonomy as an engineer - Nearly impossible to work at a decent level of productivity due to the huge bureaucratic overhead (which Senior leadership continue to lie about)
