Pros

Important work done with youth and families. This is everyone's favorite part about YAP's approach. Compassionate mission and guiding principles. Dedicated staff (CLS, Therapists, Advocates, Mentors) that work hard and provide a much needed service.

Cons

Low wages, not a lot of FT positions available at entry level. Senior level leaders seem to not play by they same rules as lower level staff are expected to. Hours can be unpredictable due to crisis work. Pressure to perform is pushed down the ranks.

Making a difference

Pros

To see the change within these young people's lives and also their parents that would not have otherwise had any help or support. I poured my heart and soul into my caseload and also the others I came in contact with, which gained me respect and trust. And I felt like I was able to make a difference in most of my families. Because I walked side by side where they were. Meet them where they were. Just like I was beautifully trained to do.

Cons

Employees who are struggling with SAD are automatically and completely shut out to the point of being forced to resign or terminated. When I was telling you I had a problem I needed help! Isn't that a double standard? What needs to be done is exactly what the company stands for: to meet the person where they are and help them. Yes, even employees. YES, I seen the flyer to call this number. The number doesn't exist. I do not want to deliberately put the company down at all because I love it. I only wished he would have reached out and helped me during my struggle because I would have loved to have been there 20 years.
