Pros

What can I say? Not too many pros. Except some of my coworkers who are really nice, this ship si going to sink purely due to technical reasons. Complete lack of leadership and vision where the company should go and what it should build.

Cons

Where can I start? First, they are crazy about acquiring companies to increase revenue as their own product zift123 was not selling. So, management decided to perfume on the pig. Literally. They acquired two competitors in less than a year. It brought in very different cultures and employee, but to make it worse three product platforms, which they are trying to transition over to one. A few people are asked to work on a future generation, but they are constantly getting pulled to fight bugs. Bugs are everywhere. If you are a good developer, you get pulled into fixing issues versus working on the real stuff. Also, as another employee said, management is not around most of the time. They have board meetings almost every month so most of the time management is preparing slides for review. Zero employee coaching. We havnt gone to any certification or training almost for a year. Plus the three platforms are causing a lot frictions amongst the employees who built them, but people are leaving. Their pay is okay, benefits are okay, but nothing great to hold you back. The options are given to a few people, and i have heard that they are worthless as the market is not growing fast ad they have raised a lot of money with the expectation of fast growth which is not happening. Its a bad situation.

Pros

Great product. Great employees.

Cons

Terrible leadership and senior management team. No one seems to know or care how to empower and motivate people. Employees are starving for leadership and direction but there is none. It does not help that most of the management team doesn't even live in NC and is never around or available.

Pros

Full benefits OK pay Occasional employee activities for celebration of events Stock options.. I guess Not much more than that

Cons

Disconnected management team. Especially for the dev team. They have no idea why all their employees are leaving though it is quite obvious. The company (dev team at least) is obsessed with doing things quickly. Getting things just working enough to push to production. Due to this there is constant hot fixing and an ever expanding catalog of bugs. It feels like the entire platform is holding on by strings. The code base is horrific and does not take any best practices into account. It also uses Java 6 which is years old. Object arrays are everywhere as well. They use old tooling such as eclipse and shrug off using more modern tooling. Another issue is the person directing the dev team is hardly even in the office and live in another state working from home, however when others want to work from home they are usually denied or told that he doesn't trust people enough to do that. Double standards?? There is no 401k matching which sucks. When our company was acquired by Zift it seemed like they haven't planned at all. We were given 24 hours to sign a new contract or whatever and were not allowed to negotiate at all. Pay wasn't that great for the area either. They only take state schooled graduates and I have seen what seemed to me like discrimination against anyone that didn't go to a well known school, which is pretty crazy. For visual design some of the devs think they know better than the designer and will flat out ignore the designer. I have heard complaints of "too hard to do" for some designs which is crazy cause the UI person is very talented. Some employees are extremely opinionated and talk into the bosses ear. There are only a few employees that the boss actually trusts, and there is a private chat channel they use to talk about other employees. CEO is disconnected with IT and seems to not care that people are leaving en mass. To me it was a train wreck and my coworker left as fast as I did. If you have other offers at other companies I encourage you to take this into account.
