Pros

Even with a firm schedule (necessary in any business to provide clients with a great experience) a work from home position is inherently more flexible. No more need to take a day off when the kids are sick, and I can switch laundry loads or run the dishwasher between tasks. Helps me stay on top of my home, without giving up on working a paid position. Being a ZA is hard work! But the support is there from every angle and level, from caring immediate supervisors, to a dedicated auxiliary support departments, to truly inquisitive leaders who want the best for everyone involved, not JUST clients. I've worked in client-facing roles where as an employee you are always wrong, and always the first one to blame - it's been the complete opposite here. The potential for growth is amazing because they are dedicated to educating and growing every employee, and moving their people up in the ranks.

Cons

Compensation is tricky, and may seem a little below the market average for educated assistants - but they have rolled out improving pay structures and bonus incentives within the short period I've been here, and I can only imagine it's going to keep improving as they grow bigger and stronger. Training may seem too short for some - but even once you move into the position the company reaches out to you to make sure you are supportive and equipped with the tools you need to succeed. It's a growing company, so they are still working out what is the most effective way to run things, which results in changes being rolled out - but they constantly survey employees in an effort to include them in the decision making process.

Pros

I joined Zirtual as a Zirtual Assistant in March 2013, and I have enjoyed every minute of it so far! These are some of the positives I've experienced: Work-life Balance - Working from home is the best! - No commuting. - No dressing up! I can wear yoga pants every day. - I can have a fulfilling job and still be available for my family. - My dog gets to come to work with me. Clients - I've had some really incredible clients. Being able to help them with their businesses or in their personal lives makes me feel valued and appreciated. - Being a ZA allows me the opportunity to learn from my clients. Whether it's something pertaining to the industry that they work in or information that I come across when I work on a task, I'm constantly growing as a professional. The learning never stops, and I appreciate that. - This job has taught me the value of adapting and learning to listen. Each client is different and has unique needs and expectations, and we're here to do the best job we possibly can! Company Culture - ZAs are grouped in "pods" of about 10-12 employees, so I never feel like I'm working all alone or in an isolated environment. If I ever have a question about something, I know I can just reach out to one of my pod mates. - We "meet" with our pod mates and other ZAs each day in chat rooms. We talk business, but we also have fun. And the meetings aren't all via the phone or chat, we also have Google Hangout meetings often. Learning/Training/Working - I trained to be a ZA two years ago, and I was impressed with the training program. - I learn something new every day, whether it's through client work or something shared during a pod meeting or from one of my fellow ZAs. - The company encourages us to read selected books as part of the promotion process and reimburses us for the cost of the books. - Computers. The computer I'm typing on right now is a company computer. I love it because that means no more wear and tear on my personal computer. Plus, it's a great way to keep my work and personal life separate. Benefits & Pay - All ZAs work as Zirtual employees. When I first started, ZAs were independent contractors. My pay varied quite a bit from month-to-month, depending on my client load. We didn't have any benefits at all, and we had to pay our own Social Security taxes as ICs. For me, the change to employee-status has been a positive change because we now have: - Affordable benefits (Zirtual covers 90% of the premium for medical, dental, and vision coverage) - Medical plans are good-quality - Blue Cross PPO, low deductibles and co-pays. In fact, I switched my family over to coverage through my plan versus my husband's plan. - ZAs earn vacation pay if they work full-time. - We also get 13 paid holidays/year. - We can contribute to a 401K plan.

Cons

I can't think of any! I love working at Zirtual.

Pros

Assistants get benefits. Work from home. No traffic. There really is not much else that is positive about working here.

Cons

Very little training. Middle management is clueless; Low Pay (less than the minimum wage in San Fran, Oakland, CA.) Customers are told that they are matched with a ZA based on their preferences; only gender & time zone location.Encouraged to give feedback but only if it is positive. Discouraged from contacting anyone in upper management. Maren, Collin, & Eric can all be as sweet as saccharine but are the Pod Leaders, the Assistant Pod Leaders, the District Managers? What about the people in HR? If I may ask, "why the Kaleo board?" To discourage ZA's from asking questions to PL & APL's? #1 you do realize that it takes longer to look up and search for a question and ensure that it has not been asked than it is to simply ask it. #2, if more training was provided then ZA's would not be asking so many questions. Finally, if rules and procedures did not change SO often then ZA's would not have to ask and re-ask to make sure they are following procedure.
