Pros

b.well might be a much better place to work if they admitted that they prefer to be a custom dev shop for clients?

Cons

This place can't prioritize and finish. They just don't (seem to) understand that building a product includes saying no to a lot of ideas (even good ones) which keeps you busy jumping from project to project and accomplishing a whole lot of nothing. Culture is defined by what your actions prove you value, not by what you say you value. The culture here is one of burnout, favoritism, and disputing the honest feedback that seeks to improve things.

Pros

Individual contributors on most teams are incredibly talented and hardworking individuals who the company is lucky to have working for them. A few specific managers are excellent and care about their employees.

Cons

Morale is low right across most teams. Working here often feels like being trapped in an unyielding whirlwind. The company's direction is murky at best, and the commonality of last-minute shifts in priorities and constant firefighting is both exhausting and disheartening. Predictability is non-existent. When hard work is recognized, it's often with a mere token gesture rather than anything substantial or genuinely meaningful. Its clear these recognitions and rewards are more about appeasement than true appreciation. There is a noticeable trend of employees leaving and a number of current employees are actively interviewing elsewhere eager to find a more stable and rewarding environment.

Pros

Remote. Was flexible with work hours, but no longer.

Cons

- Terrible work-life balance: Engineers working long days and weekends. - Paltry raises: A meager 2-3% annual increase, no bonuses. No 401k match - Empty management promises: Months of inaction despite lip service to improve things. - Mass departures: Almost two full teams have left the company with no substantial changes in the past few months. - Promotion opportunities are virtually non-existent unless you secure another job offer or happen to be one of the CTO's favorites, leading to frequent promotions even without significant contributions.
