Pros

- Catered lunch on Fridays - Cool co-workers at the contributor level

Cons

- CEO is a bully who micromanages every facet then blames you when his ideas go wrong - Training means repeating what the CEO says - Executives will say the right thing until the CEO overrules them, then they'll tell you not to do what he says until you're called to task for it and they throw you under the bus - Sales people not paid commission - The only way to get ahead is to have been there 20 years already or to be part of the CEO's family - Cheaply run pay for your own snacks from a vending machine - Water and coffee machines break 2-3 times a week

Pros

Cant think of any sorry!

Cons

Culture : Imagine it’s early 90s, because that’s where egain is at . EARLY 1990s . Outdated computers, no big perks, no one smiles~. Employees are not very friendly to each other! There is no diversity at egain! 95% of the higher managements are Indians, they don’t make eye contact, they are NOT friendly! A lot of people are related or married at egain, which makes the place even more strange! If you want to work with unfriendly folks , old computers, out dated technology, unfriendly CEO, and other unfriendly executives then this is the perfect place for you!

Pros

My manager and team were excellent in that they gladly collaborated, remained knowledgeable throughout changing demands and solutions, cultivated trust, and celebrated each other. During the period I worked, there was time to work on many new projects if one chose. Some of the people working at eGain are knowledgeable, trustworthy, communicative, kind, and hard-working team players

Cons

The CEO micromanages the daily goings on and gets in the way of innovation and trusted work. He can belittle the work that people do, is arrogant and dismissive. Unfortunately, his ways trickle down to those who work for him, creating a culture where people are not respected, fear reigns meetings, decisions are taken away from managers, and there is little room for mistakes and learning. Feedback is not provided to support growth and empower; instead it is used to correct and maintain power structures. Staff cannot challenge the CEO about his thinking, even though he often changes his thinking seemingly whimsically. Transparency is not a value of eGain's. Nor is honor, as nepotism runs many of the upper-most roles within the company. Information and teams are siloed. Typically, people do not share and collaborate because they want to remain in good-standing with the CEO and continue to hold the power/prestige they have within the small community of decision-makers. Instead of sharing insights and information to solve problems, they are ignored, band-aids are put into place, or the direction of the team swiftly and dramatically changes. Within the 2 years that I was there, the org chart changed 4 times to try and stop the bleeding and prevent further loss. Our strategic priorities shifted almost monthly, making it difficult to actually analyze the effects of our work. There are no Mission or Vision statement that the company follows. It is merely up to the ideas of the CEO at the time.
