Pros

Great people (some of them anyway)

Cons

Imagine working in a place with 0 direction, Ton's of incompetent people running the show. I still don't know what some of them do there other than making unnecessary work.

Pros

Disrespectful Support Management & Poor Scheduling. Beautiful office location by the lakeside with a great view. Some very talented co-workers, team leaders, QA and supervisors. Frequent social events, snacks, food, etc. Opportunity to work under the same roof as product & engineering. Never saw that before! Whoever came up with that idea, kudos!

Cons

It is crystal clear, support managers have no respect for their employees. Anyone says otherwise, serving their agenda as that's the only way to survive in this department. Support management doesn't have the same vision as the CEO or the COO. What we hear in company meetings from a passionate CEO and the actions of some of these titleholders at support is the opposite. They do not embody the core values that they preach. They are not open and have no integrity. Many incidents of breaking trust, but they want us to trust them. Constantly taking people into the rooms, berating and belittling employees, even to the team leads and supervisors. I have seen many colleagues and supervisors in tears in recent times. They can't speak up, we all have to choose- stay quiet or lose your job. Terrible schedule! It has gotten worse. They implemented a tool that doesn't work. Many of us reported to the manager but was advised it's our fault, we don't see it right!! It's always our fault, we are just damn peasants. What do we know about scheduling!! Schedule changes week to week now, the explanation is business needs. What a baloney. The tool doesn't work at all. With the frequent changes in schedule, it's hard to keep track, on top of that you CANNOT check your schedule outside of work!!! We used to be able to do it before with the old system, even from our phone, now we can't. This is unbelievable! Whoever made the decision to switch, let's sit down to check on your skills matrix, shall we? - Decision Quality? Poor! Did you even test it? Also, they punish you for being 2 minutes late for a schedule that changes on the fly and you can't check outside of work. Many people around planning their exits, just because of how we are being treated by the management, not the customers. Looks like there will be no one left but the management to take calls.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at ecobee has been negative as we strive to make this a great place to work. We value each and every one of our employees, so, we encourage you to communicate your concerns directly to your HR contact. We do want to note that we always appreciate advice/feedback and we assure you that what you have shared will be taken into account as we work to improve our Customer Support employees' experience. We recently introduced a new enterprise level forecasting/scheduling tool that allows staff to input their shift preferences ahead of time to better balance their personal needs and business needs. In order to ensure that our employees have adequate time to plan accordingly, we publish the following 4-5 weeks of schedules on the 2nd week of each month. Our intention is to make scheduling easier, fair and more efficient and such, appreciate your feedback regarding this tool.

Cons

Rushed training, "you should know this" attitude, condescending management, no formal escalation process, you are thrown into dealing with customers, no females in upper management, obvious favoritism, you are expected to take home work, management expects you to work overtime and guilts you if you don't

Thanks for your feedback, we take these concerns to heart here at ecobee. We’ve implemented a few changes to our Technical Support team since your time here. We provide four weeks of formal in-class training, and once on the phones, our CSRs have support and access to our QA/Trainers, other CSRs, and the Supervisory team. We may ask for people to step up when extra support is needed, but that’s a part of our company culture and core values (Driven, Integrity and Initiative). Our team is growing quickly, so we tend to have new Supervisors who are new to managing people. We continually support them and help them develop their people management skills. Although this takes a little bit of time and patience, it’s always worth it when you have great managers supporting an awesome group of people. We appreciate your feedback, and we will constantly strive to ensure our ecopeeps are learning and enjoying their time with us! - Andrew, Director, Customer Support
