Pros

Nice office in downtown Toronto

Cons

They have started firing people left and right in customer service. People dont know why these people were fired and are surprised at whats happening. Your job is not safe here even if you do a good job. If they don't like you then they will get rid of you.

Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns. At times the business needs to make difficult decisions to end an employee’s employment. Recently, a few individuals were affected. We do not take these decisions lightly and we do not disclose details around an employee’s exit, as these details are confidential. We do however, take into consideration all aspects of the employee’s history before the final outcome is decided. To summarize on a positive note, we are a growing team and scaling the Support Department to ensure we continue to provide great customer experiences. We are currently promoting enthusiastic, positive, high performing people within the department and continue to look for great people to join our highly regarded Customer Service team.

Pros

Good work environment, please do read the cons section breifly and try to understand it as you were in my shoes for once.

Cons

- So today was a busy day in the support department After being burnt out from taking calls after calls after calls, I wanted to take a 5 minute breather which was taken by permission of the supervisor. The only matter was the current supervisor was active in some important duties and I thinking it was a better idea to ask the available supervisor on floor to take breather would be a better idea to avoid any distractions. Turns out, it was not a good idea because some how or the other, I offended my actual supervisor by not waiting to ask for taking a breather. I did not by any means attempt to offend and apologized immediately for a 5 minute breather that I took. Which was still no good and was warned thst the company will not tolerate the action. Yes, I am aware of the hectic schedule supervisors have on a daily basis. Yes, I could in fact be in fault for that. But yet, I apologized immediately despite taking permission. I got sent off back to work and got a little teary eyed on the fact that despite working on the awkward shift times that I have been placed in, which inpacts hugely on my social life. Living alone in a country without parents, working hard and doing my best to show up at work to be there for our customers. The care the drive and everything.. There is no recognition or even a pat on the back saying somethung like ´you know what, you did a great job today, try doing even better’ .. instead you get ´this company will not tolerate this act, thats all i have to say’ It is 3 A.M in the morning currently as i am writing this message. I honestly love the company and the work ethics. But I cried today because this is the result of no matter how much driven you are, and shows that this certain department, is more on favouraitism and no equality. Thank you ecobee.

Hello, thank you for taking the time expressing your concerns, we apologize for the experience that you had during your shift. This is not the work environment that we promote at ecobee. As our team continues to grow, we do our best to ensure that our Supervisors, who are new to managing people, are continually supported to help them develop their people management skills to better handle situations. The Leadership team is responsible for developing their team members through coaching/mentoring/training and invest considerable time through this process. We have recently launched a supervisor and management training program for the Customer Support team specifically which is designed to ensure that all members of our team have the right tools and skills to be successful. If you feel you have not been fully supported, then improvements are needed. I would be more than happy to meet with you in confidence and assure you that your concerns will be addressed. Thank you, Andrew G (Director, Customer Service)

Pros

There are brilliant minds here and it's a terrific product. Salaries are decent. Location is super convenient for subway and go train riders.

Cons

The atmosphere is toxic and people are too scared of being bullied to speak up. This is an employer that manages through fear. If you can fly under the radar, you just might enjoy your time here and do good work. The benefits are ho-hum, no rrsp, no bonus. Stock options but who knows if anything will come of those. I can imagine that a handful of us that have been here for a few years will move on in 2016. Oh, and those stellar glassdoor posts from April/May 2014? The CEO asked people to write them.
