BIG NEWS: We'll soon be building a first-of-its-kind energy storage system in the U.S. right here in Wisconsin! Utilizing a unique CO2-based battery design by Energy Dome, this innovative and efficient approach to energy storage will help increase reliability and resilience. Together, we can build a stronger, smarter and more sustainable energy future!
We want to recognize lead energy technician Mark Eichhorst with a Values in Practice (VIP) award, an honor that celebrates employees who donate their time and energy in the communities we serve. For the last 20 years, Eichhorst has been a volunteer firefighter for the Howards Grove Fire Department, with a current rank of captain. Along with his fellow fire fighters, Eichhorst responds to fires, participates in fire prevention activities, performs fire inspections, maintains equipment and helps at fundraisers. He puts a particular focus on education. “We offer youth ages 14 to 21 the opportunity to see what firefighting may offer them as far as skills and future leadership skills for their community,” he said. “I believe giving your talents back to serve others is part of honoring the community."
We are excited to announce that Ignacio Cortina has joined our Board of Directors! He has more than 27 years of experience in the industrial, legal and manufacturing sectors. We can't wait to see how he helps us all serve customers and build stronger communities.
Our 2023 Corporate Responsibility Report is out now! It highlights our progress on creating a diverse energy mix, how we engage our employees and the positive impact we're making in our communities.
It was Line Worker Appreciation Day in Wisconsin this past week, which Gov. Tony Evers first proclaimed in 2021! Every day we celebrate our line workers who keep the current flowing to our homes and businesses. They are a crucial part of Alliant Energy, working tirelessly to address electrical problems safely and quickly. Help us celebrate line workers today! #ThankALineworker
We love highlighting stories about how our customers use their energy to support the communities they live in. After volunteering around the world for decades, Scott Rodman brought his energy a little closer to home: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Today, Rodman is an active board member, meal deliverer and mentor. Of all his volunteer efforts, Rodman is most proud of bringing the Challenge Day anti-bullying workshop to Fond du Lac. He says the common thread of all his volunteer efforts is that he seeks out “groups that are trying to improve our community so it’s more welcoming to all people.”
We're so excited for this year's summer interns. We know they'll all make a difference in building stronger communities!
As you’re out and about this summer, you may happen upon one of our solar-powered benches. They’re easy to spot. If you see one, try it out; rest for a bit and charge your phone or tablet with the power of the sun!
