Pollinator gardens contain native plants to provide food and shelter to bees, birds, butterflies, bats and many more of our animal friends. Here are a few garden projects we’ve had a hand in across our service area: American Players Theatre use native plants to control invasive species, restore prairie habitat and welcome specific pollinators; Riverland Conservancy helps the Merrimac Preserve as part of a monarch butterfly project; and the Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area is planting a prairie to be a learning environment for kids!
As you’re out and about this summer, you may happen upon one of our solar-powered benches. They’re easy to spot. If you see one, try it out; rest for a bit and charge your phone or tablet with the power of the sun!
Happy Pride Month! Our Equality Alliance employee resource group helps us all remember that the first step to a more inclusive workplace is asking questions, listening and learning from those around us. We encourage all of our employees to bring their authentic selves to work. We work to create a workplace where everyone can feel included, appreciated for their uniqueness and can do the best work of their lives.
We want to recognize Ashley Biddick with a Values in Practice (VIP) award, an honor that celebrates employees who share their time and energy with the communities we serve. HR Consultant Ashley Biddick was inspired to become a volunteer EMT after seeing the impact first responders had on her own family during a crisis. “In rural areas all over the U.S., EMS and fire departments are struggling to get volunteers,” said Biddick. “I don’t want my community or family to suffer [from] not having volunteers to respond.” Today, in addition to her career at Alliant Energy, she’s on call as an EMT for more than 80 hours each month.
The Arbor Day Foundation says one large tree can provide a day’s supply of oxygen for four people. Imagine what that means for Baraboo Hills, Wisconsin, where we will help plant more than 75,000 trees over the next four years! This is possible thanks to our partnership with The Nature Conservancy. We’re excited to be part of this amazing effort. https://bit.ly/40P2iog
We are recognizing our Values in Practice (VIP) award winners, an honor that celebrates employees who donate time and energy to the communities we serve. For Joint Facilities Coordinator Dana Gillett, 4-H is a life-long connection. “I love watching shy children coming out of their shells and becoming responsible citizens civically by serving their communities,” she said. Alliant Energy often supports 4-H programs as part of our workforce readiness and community engagement efforts.
"These trips reassure me that this is the path I want to take," says Tipping the Scales participant Leo. "I'm still not really sure what specific career, but these trips really helped me try to find that career."
An apprenticeship can change your life! We'll pay you while you learn-- It's not just a job. It's a career.
We’re celebrating our 25th anniversary as Alliant Energy! We have actually been part of our communities for more than 100 years, where our employees have been delivering on our mission to serve customers and build stronger communities from day one.
