“Enabling AI at scale for life science research will pave the way for new biomedical discoveries.” Theofanis Karaletsos is an expert at leveraging AI to solve big problems. As our new Head of Artificial Intelligence for Science, he brings fresh insights to building models that will allow us to understand complex systems and will lead our efforts to build virtual cell models to help scientists predict the behavior of healthy and diseased cells. We’re also building the foundations of our science AI work by convening a new AI advisory group with leaders in AI and ML and starting an AI residency program. Join us in welcoming Theo and others as they help us build AI-powered tools to accelerate scientific discovery 👏
We’re celebrating all of the people at CZI who make building a better future possible. Thank you for your dedication to our mission. #EmployeeAppreciationDay #collaboration #gratitude #TeamCZI
Our annual offsite was full of learnings, connections and joy! We love seeing everyone’s faces. We’re leaving with fresh insights into our science and education work, ready to face the challenges and opportunities in front of us as we make progress toward our North Stars 🌟
🎉 In honor of Black History Month, join us in celebrating all of the amazing Black CZIers who are helping build a more inclusive, just and healthy future for everyone! Our employee resource group for Black CZIers’ is honoring Black History Month by bringing together people from different backgrounds, cultures and histories to celebrate the unique contributions of the Black community.
“Over the next 20 years, we’re going to see profound changes in how we do science.” CZI’s Head of Science Steve Quake shares our vision for using AI to help researchers make discoveries about human biology. We’re building AI tools to uncover new insights about how our cells function to identify and treat disease earlier.
New year 💡 new job? We’re building AI tools, including digital models of cells, for scientists to help them solve some of the biggest challenges in biomedicine related to health and disease.
Welcome to our newest employee resource group— the Disability Inclusion Group! This employee group is a community of CZIers with disabilities and allies working to make CZI more accessible, equitable and inclusive. Their first event in honor of International Day of Persons with Disabilities was a talk with Annessa Powell from AllAbility Solutions about how to develop a shared understanding and language around disability in the workplace. Share what you are doing to increase access in your workplace below to join the celebration.
Nothing says fun like a week of in-person collaboration with teams across CZI. Seriously, we love spending time together and it shows. We spent our final 2023 HQ Week celebrating our progress and planning for next year!
“When we started CZI, we couldn’t have predicted exactly where we are now. But at every turn, our goal has been to leverage and advance technology to accelerate impact across science and education.” Hear more from Priscilla and Mark about our path to accelerating scientific discovery with AI—bringing scientists one step closer to ending disease: https://czi.co/AnnualLetter
“The Chicago Biohub is going to change the way our world deals with disease.” Last month we celebrated the launch of the Chicago Biohub which is building miniaturized sensors to measure in real time how our cells and tissues are impacted by inflammation, and uncover the role it plays in diseases.
