“On my team, we always strive to create visibility on what we’re working on. That way, when one of us goes on PTO, we don’t feel that we have to be worried about anything that happens with our work while we’re gone. When I go on vacation, I know I can totally unplug. I know my team has my back. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has always been really encouraging when it comes to work-life flexibility. I have never felt like I haven't had the ability to take the vacations that I want to take or spend the time with my family that I need to spend with them. I can be fully present with them, and then — when I’m back at work — I’m fully committed to doing my best for the Chick-fil-A restaurant Owner-Operators and customers." — Alexis Blocker, Marketing Data Science, Engineering and Privacy Team

"I have a memory of Chick-fil-A that I will never forget. It was 2003 and I was five years old. I helped cut the ribbon at the opening celebration when my Dad became the Owner-Operator of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Largo, Maryland. I remember that day very clearly – it was really cold outside and I was excited that I got to skip school. The memory is so vivid and special to me - I love telling people about it. Fast forward to now, and I have enjoyed sharing that childhood memory with my fellow Co-Ops at the Chick-fil-A Corporate Support Center. I’m currently completing my first rotation as a Co-Op in the Digital Transformation and Technology (DTT) department. Because of my roots with Chick-fil-A, my friends back home always asked me whether I wanted to become an Owner-Operator like my Dad. But once I became interested in coding, I pursued my own unique path in college by majoring in Software Engineering. The way I see it, I might not be working in my Dad’s restaurant, but through my Co-Op experience on the corporate side of Chick-fil-A, Inc., I’m still supporting him on the back end of things through my projects in DTT. I’m so grateful for this opportunity as I continue to learn and grow towards a future in Software Engineering one day." - Keith Singletary, Co-Op, Chick-fil-A, Inc.

“It’s rare in a career to take an app from beginning to end and see it through without many bumps. When I came to Chick-fil-A, Inc., our new inventory management platform was in the prototype stage. Recently, we wrapped up rolling out the app to all Chick-fil-A restaurants. It’s a huge accomplishment. The inventory management platform is a cloud-native, custom-built application with microservices, mostly APIs, and an all home-built UI/UX. It allows Chick-fil-A restaurant Owner-Operators to order ingredients and supplies, and it incorporates restaurant-specific forecasting to help them understand how much of any ingredient or item they’ll need on any given day, as well as assist in operational decision-making. When I started at Chick-fil-A, Inc., some of the back end was built, and I got straight to work integrating with all the partners. We built out more APIs and the rest of the supporting services. Slowly, over time, I started working on front-end pieces as well, and I find UI/UX really fun to work on because you have to immerse yourself in the perspective of the different possible end users. What the app does is such an integral part of the business. For me, it's not really about finishing a project. It's that I got to own a product and see it through to the end — but also continue to work on it and continue to improve it. That’s what has been so exciting.” — Jasmine Glamour, Operator Technology Solutions, Supply Chain

“After 8 years of working on Wall Street, primarily in investment banking, I left my career and moved south to Atlanta, Georgia, without a new job in place. I knew I had to make a change - what I really wanted was more balance and purpose in my work. For the past 6 years, I have worked in the Financial Services department at Chick-fil-A, Inc. as a Senior Financial Consultant, advising Restaurant Owner-Operators on best practices to improve their restaurant’s profitability. I'm glad to say that I now enjoy work that is both interesting and fulfilling, while also achieving the work-life flexibility that I needed. I am able to maintain healthier boundaries at home with my family, allowing me to enjoy uninterrupted time with my wife and daughter. But even more than that - Chick-fil-A, Inc. is full of potential. By working on Staff here, that potential provides the opportunity for me to be a part of Chick-fil-A's growth and expansion. That is what inspires me the most." - Eric Harris, Field Finance

“At the Chick-fil-A Corporate Support Center, it’s abnormal to get on an elevator and not say hello, introduce yourself and strike up a conversation. That’s the culture of Chick-fil-A, Inc. — and all of us working here are culture carriers. We built the Corporate Support Center campus to support what we call chance encounters. Instead of just creating the most efficient path from Point A to Point B, we created routes that, for example, take you through a break room, so you can see someone and have a chance to connect. It’s in our community spaces that our culture really comes to life. You can see that our people really enjoy each other, and I know that the people I work with care about me. They want to do life with me — not just the good, but also the bad and all the in between.” — Layne Hellman, Campus Strategy Support Team

Pursuing what’s next through sustainability! With a goal of advancing sustainability across the Chick-fil-A system’s footprint, Chick-fil-A, Inc. and local Chick-fil-A Restaurants continue to research and test opportunities to reduce traditional energy consumption or explore renewable energy. To reduce reliance on the local power grid in Oceanside, California, local Owner-Operator Adam Hoffman is piloting a solar-powered microgrid at Chick-fil-A Quarry Creek. It’s the third California Restaurant to test the innovative technology as part of a pilot Chick-fil-A, Inc. hopes to expand over the next five years. Peden Young, a principal program lead for the Chick-fil-A, Inc. Sustainability Team, projects the solar microgrid will cover about a third of the Restaurant’s energy needs. The two previous installations at Chick-fil-A March Lane in Stockton and Chick-fil-A Mendocino Avenue in Santa Rosa have resulted in 30-40% energy coverage. "I grew up in Minnesota and studied accounting at college in Nebraska. Back then, one thing was certain – I was ready to experience a warmer climate! Fortunately, I flew south to Atlanta to join Chick-fil-A, Inc. as an Intern in 2018, and later relocated permanently after being hired as full-time Staff in Financial Services. Since that beginning, it’s been amazing to see the meaningful relationships that have developed and the professional growth that has occurred – not only in my own career, but in the careers of my coworkers as well. As a Chick-fil-A, Inc. Intern, I saw first-hand the intentionality that Chick-fil-A puts into creating opportunities to build lasting relationships. The semester-long program provided moments where Interns and Co-Ops working across the organization could gather to build lasting bonds and learn from each other. Those relationships can span both work and personal life. In one example of many, I had the honor of serving as a bridesmaid in the wedding of a friend who I had met during the Chick-fil-A, Inc. internship..." - Sydney Sackmaster, CPA, Restaurant Performance Insights, Chick-fil-A, Inc. “Over the past five years at Chick-fil-A, Inc., I have had the chance to wear multiple hats and take on various roles, all centered around connecting people and driving us toward a shared goal. I started my career here in December 2019 on the Facilities Management team as a Project Specialist focused on communications and training. Within a few short months, my work quickly shifted to crisis communications with the start of the pandemic. I then had the opportunity to join the Restaurant Development communications team, where I supported multiple leaders through the development of strategic communication plans, building their storytelling capabilities and more. Today, I am part of the Test & Rollouts team, which is focused on bringing the right solutions to life for Chick-fil-A restaurants to meet the capacity needs of the future. In this role, I have the opportunity to lead a team focused on process improvement, technology enhancement and strategic planning initiatives. I am excited about the direction of the organization and its focus on scaling for the future, while still preserving what makes us special. As we continue to grow and innovate, I’m grateful that we continue to prioritize meaningful relationships and moments of care.” - Lindley Moss, Test & Rollouts
