Engineering News-Record (ENR ) magazine recently released their annual Top 400 Contractors list, and we are very pleased to share that Epstein was ranked for the second consecutive year! The substantial role Epstein plays as a leader in the meat processing industry has allowed us to significantly expand and grow the construction side of our business. We are very pleased and proud to once again be among the firms who comprise this prestigious list.
Epstein is delighted to be serving as the design architects, full-service engineers and construction professionals for the Alexandrion Group as they establish their first United States distillery in New York City’s Hudson River Valley. Given our unique position of having branches in Romania and the U.S., coupled with our experience in food and beverage facilities, we are pleased to be a part of this venture.
As part of our regular officer-led "Epstein University" series, we were delighted to host a seminar for our staff about the history of both Midway and O’Hare, as well as Epstein’s decades-long involvement at the two airports. Special thanks to Tom Smiles, PE, Laura Rebbe, AIA, and Noel Abbott for leading this insightful discussion!
This Wednesday, CTBUH Chicago will be presenting a panel discussion with some of the city’s elite developers, covering the overall 2019 real estate investment outlook in Chicago. Our Laura L Flores, AIA, LEED AP will be co-moderating the conference. Not only is she our Senior Project Architect, but she is also one of the leaders in our interior practice.
Epstein was proud to once again co-sponsor this year’s Metropolitan Planning Council’s (MPC) River Cruise, where participants were able to learn about current and future projects taking place along the crucial stretch of Chicago's riverfront. Given our long-standing connection and interest in the health and sustainability of the Chicago River, we greatly respect and support the ongoing work that MPC and its partners are doing to bring attention to its ecology and economy.
The Epstein-designed, engineered and constructed Prestage Foods of Iowa pork processing plant has officially opened. The nearly 700,000-square-foot facility is not only one of the most advanced food processing plants in the world, but also includes numerous sustainable features that help benefit the environment.
Epstein is pleased to be planning and designing a 60-story mixed-use high-rise located in Bucharest, Romania. The tower will include office and hotel buildings, retail, a conference/convention center and a spa/indoor water park, among other features. Our Patrick Carata, AIA, LEED BDC, is serving as the Design Architect for this project. When complete, the tower will be the tallest to ever be constructed in that country, becoming not only a visual symbol, but also an attraction for the city.
Epstein is delighted to be serving as the architect of record for design architect, Arquitectonica, on the design of Liberty Tower, a 41-story high-rise mixed-use development located in Warsaw. The project is being developed by Golub GetHouse and features residential rental apartments as well as a hotel. At 581,000 square feet, Liberty Tower will include a cascade roof, extraordinary infrastructure of amenities for residents, a hotel run by one of the world's leading operators and a 4-story underground garage.
Last weekend, the Epstein Community Foundation (ECF), a not-for-profit charity formed by Epstein employees, participated in an event with Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago, a nationwide organization dedicated to providing critical home repairs, modifications and improvements for residents in need. This year, the ECF helped to upgrade one woman's residence, ultimately making it a much safer home for her to live in. The scope of work featured repairs and renovations to the front room, dining room, bathroom, kitchen, stairwell, basement and exterior.
The largest and most dynamic mixed-use development is coming to Romania's second largest city, Iasi. With a 3 million-square-foot surface, the Silk District features multiple functions, including apartments, A-Class offices, and a 160-room hotel. Furthermore, all areas have been intelligently integrated into a coherent whole, providing an improved lifestyle to its community. Epstein is pleased to be providing master planning, architectural design and MEP engineering services for this project. We are also delighted to be working with Prime Kapital, the project's developers, as they aim to bring a new and energetic neighborhood to Iasi.
