Industry charity event! Our McLarens Singapore office attended a charity walk organized by Marsh Singapore in collaboration with Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), a registered charity in Singapore governed by the Charities Act and regulated by the Commissioner of Charities for the World Refugee Day on 20 June 2022. JRS is active in 56 countries including Singapore. Its mission – to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons, that they may heal, learn and determine their own future – has helped countless refugees in our region. Its focus is to provide support for various refugee programs in the region and to perform outreach to the migrant community in Singapore. The ways we can help as a community include monetary donations, our time, and effort spent to directly support the organizations that can make a difference. McLarens commUnity and our Day of Service Initiative! With the help of the Responsible Business Committee, we have launched our McLarens' Day of Service. This gifts our employees one day a year to give back to their local communities by donating their time and service to a worthy cause. Last week, two of our London-based employees volunteered at the White Eagle Appeal in Tooting, South London, a charity working seven days a week to provide aid to Ukrainian refugees both overseas and to those arriving in the UK. White Eagle Appeal relies on volunteers to ensure that there are enough hands to accept deliveries, sort, and pack aid. Supporting those in need overseas! Find out how UK&I Executive Adjuster, Heather McMillan and her family have been providing aid to the poorest people of Poland through the charity The Joy Foundation since 2013 and recently made the journey from Ireland to Poland to support Ukrainian refugees. 'The open-heartedness displayed by her colleagues across McLarens and the wider sector has been so remarkable that The Joy Foundation is now planning a second trip over the Easter weekend because, even after five vans, there are still enough donations to fill at least two more.' Giving back to our local communities. On February 19th, McLarens once again took part in the Frozen Apple Insurance Industry Hockey Game benefiting Ice Hockey In Harlem (IHIH) at Chelsea Piers in New York City. McLarens' own William Holland, VP/Senior Executive General Adjuster, was on the ice that night for the fundraiser. His wife, McLarens’ own Michele Pertesis, VP/Executive General Adjuster, was there cheering him on too! Over the past six editions of this event, over $70,000 has been raised for IHIH, a non-profit organization that provides high-quality ice hockey programming, as well as classroom sessions and mentoring activities for 300 children from Harlem. William, thanks for being involved in such a great organization and representing McLarens on the ice. Hope you stayed out of the penalty box! #McLarens #GivingBack #Charities
