What a showing! Nearly 120 Sonepar associates gathered for a Sonepar networking dinner at National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) Women in Industry forum in Arlington, Texas. In addition to valuable educational sessions and industry-wide networking during the conference, our associates got to meet for a special event. Hosted by Sonepar's Women Advocating Today for Tomorrow (WATT) group, the dinner offered associates the chance to learn from each other, share insights with our leaders, and forge lasting connections across our organization. WATT's board of directors shared: "It is powerful when Sonepar women from across the entire U.S. have the chance to meet in person, discuss the industry and career growth, and support each other. We are excited to help Sonepar pursue ambitious goals for achieving gender balance and bringing even more talented women into this great organization."

Women can achieve great things when they have the space and support to push limits and pursue dreams. This video, released in celebration of Women’s History Month, amplifies the message and mindset we are striving for in our mission to recruit more women to our company and to this industry, which offers so many opportunities to build a successful career. Reina Ohol, our SVP Human Resources North America, shares: “Career opportunities often come when there is a culture of empowering women, which is Sonepar’s goal. We aim to help our female colleagues deepen their contributions and invite more women to join us.”

We are thrilled to have received the Carolyn C. Mattingly Award for Mental Health in the Workplace! This award celebrates “exemplary organizations that advance the mental health and well-being of their workforce.” 1 in 4 adults worldwide face mental and behavioral health challenges, such as depression (source: World Health Organization). Given that people spend most of their waking hours at work, we feel compelled to support the mental health of our associates. In addition to resources and benefits that are available year-round, our benefits team runs a special series of workshops and an awareness campaign during Mental Health Month every May. For this year’s awareness campaign, five associates bravely stepped up to tell their stories. They recorded moving videos aimed at reducing the stigma around mental health challenges and showing how getting help can make you come out stronger than ever.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, Sonepar companies celebrated the rich cultures and the role of Latinos in moving the country forward. “We wanted to celebrate Hispanic prosperity, power, and progress in a unified way with your fellow associates and shine a light on the contributions of Hispanic employees, consumers, and community members,” said Gabino Martinez, Regional Operations Manager for World Electric and president of Sonepar’s Hispanic employee resource group (ERG). “Did you know that one in five entrepreneurs are Hispanic? And that Latinas create small businesses six times faster than any other group?” Over the course of the company-wide festivities, Sonepar’s Hispanos Unidos ERG encouraged each operating company to hold a celebration that ranged from a Latin coffee hour to a themed lunch or dessert meet-up. Many associates of Hispanic origin were also spotlighted on internal and external social forums, sharing the ways in which their cultural roots inspire them. The Hispanos Unidos board of directors also attended the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) Convention in San Antonio, Texas. ALPFA is the largest Hispanic professional organization in America. The event consisted of inspiring keynote speakers (including Sonepar personnel), personal and professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and a two-day career fair.

It's the season of giving! This week, #Charleston office associates gave back by volunteering with the Lowcountry Food Bank and Lowcountry Orphan Relief. We packed food boxes for people in need and care packages with critical clothing, books, and toiletries for children entering the foster care system. We greatly appreciate the work these two organizations tirelessly do year-round to help people in the Charleston community. #Soneparcares #seasonofgiving #givethanks
