This November, our employee business resource group, truMosaic, wanted to bring team members together in the Seattle office to celebrate our diverse community of team members and share our many cultures through recipes. A community table was set up in the lunchroom, and all team members were welcome to join, enjoy some great food, and get to know each other. Thank you to all who helped organize this great event!

We're excited to announce our multi-year agreement with Seattle Reign FC to become the club’s new front-of-kit partner. The collaboration represents a historic milestone for Reign FC and the National Women’s Soccer League, reflecting the continued growth of the league and the rising interest in women’s professional sports. Together, the two organizations share strong local roots, a belief in equity, and a passion for the power of pets and sport to unite communities. “At our core, Trupanion exists to help pet parents budget for the unexpected cost of veterinary care,” said Margi Tooth, CEO and President of Trupanion. “Our goal is to enable true access to care - equity for pets and the people who love them. The power of sports and pets both lies in their ability to bring people together, to create shared moments of joy and memories to last a lifetime. Whether it’s the shared thrill of the game or the unconditional love of a pet, both uplift our spirits and strengthen our sense of connection. We’re excited to partner with the Reign to celebrate that bond. Partnering with the Reign not only helps us spread the word about the importance of protecting your pet but the importance of making opportunities available to all.”
The employee-life Instagram account of Seattle-based pet insurer Trupanion shows an office scene much different from what you’ll find in other workplaces: Dogs and cats lounging under chairs, on desks, in conference rooms, on laps. Treats and toys litter the office. What’s not captured in the photos and videos, though, are the other, perhaps more valuable, pet benefits offered by the firm, including no-deductible pet insurance, a pet bereavement policy, and flexible schedules so employees can be with pets that are sick or hurt. “These benefits are just an alignment of our mission, and they’re so important to our employees,” explained Brenna McGibney, Trupanion’s chief administrative officer, who oversees employee benefits. “It’s really about recognizing the role that pets are playing in people’s lives.”
Trupanion has been recognized by the Puget Sound Business Journal as a recipient of its Excellence in Wellbeing Award. This prestigious award celebrates organizations that have made employee well-being a core business priority, embedding physical, mental, and emotional health into their leadership philosophy, benefits, and daily operations. “Our team members are the very heart of everything we do,” said Margi Tooth, CEO and President of Trupanion. "We understand that when our team feels healthy, supported, and truly engaged, we can bring our very best to pet parents and veterinarians. This award is a testament to our continued efforts to create a workplace where every team member feels genuinely valued and cared for, both professionally and personally."
Trupanion made the Built In Best Places to Work list for the 6th year in a row! As part of its selection process, Built In weighs criteria that are top of mind for today's workforce, including compensation, wellness benefits, time off, flexible work opportunities, DEI opportunities, and people-first cultural offerings. We’re proud to be an employer consistently named on their list!
The Muse has recognized Trupanion as a company that made a meaningful investment in its people and offers a competitive benefits package that focuses on well-being and positions all team members to thrive. These awards would not be possible without team members voting for Trupanion as an employer of choice, and we are honored to receive awards for six out of their seven categories!
Trupanion passed another significant milestone – over $3 billion in veterinary invoices paid! That's over 11.1 million paid claims to help cats and dogs receive the medical care they deserve. The massive number shows just how passionate Trupanion is about protecting pets and providing pet parents worldwide with financial peace of mind. “Trupanion exists to help pet parents care for their pet without having to worry about the cost of care. To cross $3 billion in paid claims is a huge acknowledgment of the problem we are solving and underscores the growing importance of pet medical insurance. It took us 20 years to cross $1 billion in veterinary claims. Today, just four years later, we crossed $3 billion. It’s an achievement that highlights our rapid growth as a company but more than that, it’s a testament to the positive impact we’ve had in the lives of pets and pet parents,” said Trupanion CEO and President Margi Tooth.
Trupanion won two Silver Stevie® Awards and a Bronze Stevie for Front-Line Customer Service Team of the Year; Contact Center of the Year; and Inside or Telesales Team of the Year in the 2024 Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service. Some may consider the call center at Trupanion as untraditional in that they don’t use scripts or have handle time goals. They believe that team members shine the best on every call without rigid guidelines and need the time and flexibility to take care of the customer in a manner that feels authentic to them. Since the pandemic, their contact center has evolved into a remote-first environment, with team members working from home across the United States and Canada. If team members prefer to have an office experience, the Seattle headquarters is open to all, including team members’ cats and dogs.
Trupanion will be speaking with Workday on August 15 about how we are living out a continuous listening approach, seeing tangible progress from the feedback employees provide. Register for the webinar to learn more!
