Pros

Good and healthy lunch and dinner smart and helpful colleagues company is growing and good time to join Weekly events and lot of activities decent benefits

Cons

Beware of jacked up stock prices, overvalued company...assume 50% of shares offered to you as the true value. Company might not go public until next 4 or 5 years. Look into revenue and valuation ratio to understand it better. Company does good job of hiding financials from employees Most of the engineers are either new grads or less than 2 years work exp, which is not bad but it creates very jovial and immature environment. There is no good leadership to guide these folks. Because of this, the entire tech stack is a mess and lot of quick fix is done instead of solving the entire problem which increases the tech debt. You can hear people shouting and clapping all the time. Not for serious workers. Lot of people have left in the last 12 months. Finally, not a deal breaker for many, Beware of huge interest rates of average 20% APR, and I once saw a 4000$ loan with 2000$ interest over 36 months...It feels like we are fooling poor people..when i joined, i thought we were going to take away people from credit card scam but it seems like we are making them fall into affirm loan ...the whole loan stuff is bad Overall, good place for new grads and people with less than 2 years exp as they can learn and do lot of stuff on their own. Experienced people might not like it here.

Pros

Good Benefits (medical, dental, parental leave)

Cons

There is a lot of politics within the leadership team. Unfortunately, this impacts IC of their teams. The organization is constantly changing. There are too many middle managers, resulting in really long decision processes and packed Zoom meetings. My manager changed every 6 months, my manager's manager every 3 months (maybe more?), resulting in a lack of vision, strategy, and team culture. It's not a good place to build or have a family, as the work-life balance is pretty bad. They laid off 20% of the employees in Feb 2023, said they would never do it again, and laid off again one year later in Feb 2024. When I joined, I wanted to stay at Affirm for years, but I was disappointed and left after 18 months. I wish I had left another review...

Pros

Honestly, not much anymore. A few good people but the SVP and VP destroyed this place.

Cons

The insane politics is disgusting. The most incompetent VP ever gets all the support from the SVP. There’s such bias here. What is with their relationship? Why can’t the SVP see the toxic culture this person has created where she simply brown noses her own direct reports. She’s not a leader and she’s not very smart. It’s the most dysfunctional thing I’ve ever seen and it’s disappointing the low caliber of people and decision making. The VP creates an environment where everyone just kissed each others butt but doesn’t make any really impact or change. She barely understands the business. Seriously, if any regulator ever talks to her, we’re screwed.
