Pros
When I began working at this organization it had many pros. They included a great mission, knowledgeable management, a sense of security, a positive atmosphere, good benefits, and generous paid time off. In fairness, some did remain throughout my tenure. However, numerous re-organizational efforts have caused what was a formerly solid organization to become very unstable. This instability and sharp decline has caused the demise of most of the pros that were previously listed.
Cons
Leadership in this organization is extremely out of touch with the realities in the field. The latest re-structure resulted in yet another mass exodus of qualified and knowledgeable staff who were abruptly, coldly, and unfairly let go with little thanks or appreciation for the years (in some cases up to 20+) that had been given to further the cause. In contrast, many unqualified and incompetent staff were retained due to the fact that those making hiring and retention decisions remain essentially clueless to the real picture. They now have "managers" in charge of departments that they have never worked in before. There are staff filling positions that they didn't even want...they were just desperate to stay employed. Employees must constantly fear for their jobs, as each one has watched one colleague after another get the coldly scripted phone call telling them that they no longer have a career. It is sad to watch the decline of this formerly strong organization.
