Pros

Challenging work, with the opportunity to learn new technology and be able to wear many hats, you will not be pigeon holed here (unless you try to be). Friendly coworkers and management. Treated with respect from all levels. Open office allows you to easily talk to other teams (preventing teams from being siloed) Fast paced environment and no red tape from upper management Opportunities the grow (career and knowledge-based) Competitive pay (+ 401k matching) Flexible hours

Cons

Major: Like most software companies, you have business people who understand how software development works and business people who don't. Sometimes when working on projects it feels like most do not understand, because of this there is a lack of planning and significant scope creep. Minor: Noisy (because of open office), benefits (mediocre medical plans, no paternity or maternity leave)

Poorly managed, chaotic, disorganized

Pros

The teams operate somewhat independently so you can luck out and get on one that isn't "bad" per se. Pay is competitive. If you absolutely need work you can get by at this place.

Cons

Turnover is ridiculous and for good reason. Lack of resources in crucial areas leads to overworked and unhappy employees. Terrible open office environment not conducive to actually getting work done. High turnover has lead to rampant tech debt in all areas of the organization without many veteran experts to explain it all. Many of the teams operate as the opposite of a well-oiled machine. Many impediments to finish your work exist and there isn't much effort to put processes in place that streamline or eliminate those barriers for you. Mismanaged projects lead to "rushed" and haphazard efforts to make go live deadlines while leaving employees in the lurch.

As a rapidly growing organization things can be chaotic at times but we rely heavily on employee input to make sure we stay on track - I encourage you to reach out to a member of the leadership so we can better understand where/how we need to improve. As a current employee your feedback, insight, and overall happiness is incredibly important to us.

Faster turnover rate than my wheels on a highway

Pros

Snack room, cheap coffee, snacks, pretty building, free parking, air conditioning. Healthcare benefits, 401k (not that you will be there long enough).

Cons

3-5 employees were fired every other month. We would hire someone and a few months later...Fire them. Mismanagement, old habits and endless hours of work. I was a parent that never saw his kids past sitting behind my computer screen. Half my day was spent hearing people talking about their job interviews to leave than work including every form of management. The president of the company sent a few threatening emails about it with a link to a job recruiter. Backstabbing was endless here it seemed and no one seemed to want to take the blame for their actions. In 1.5 years I saw at 30-40 people go out. Most project managers, Vice Presidents, IT directors, accountants, multiple QA managers and endless development managers, Human Resources, developers and QA gone by the bundle. Just a hint: the 2 year old company photo posted with everyone wearing a fake google glass and a suit jacket. Look for how many still work there.

In a rapidly growing company it can be difficult to blend employees and business needs but we are always looking to make improvements. We work hard to make sure that work-life balance is built into our culture and will continue to work on new solutions.
