Pros
1. Hourly payment is higher than in most places. 2. Learned new things in a short period of time and I showed myself that I can do it, if not more. 3. If you like independent work, not talking to other people and not having a team, this is for you. You will be working mostly by yourself with a minimum amount of communication. 4. If I had some questions, I had to figure out myself. No one was there to help me, especially the last 6 weeks of my internship. 5. Work is remote.
Cons
Duration of the trainee/internship position is 12 weeks, this is for the period of 12 week internship time. 1. During the hiring process, the interview was in 1 language, that I know very well. But they ended up hiring me and giving me tasks in another language, that I had to learn relatively quickly and I didn't know before. 2. I had to wait for 3 months just to start working. I didn't know what my official start date is going to be up. 3. I was given a mentor, but he was only available during the first 4-6 weeks. The agenda that he showed with what we will be doing, it was changed dramatically after the mentor had to take the time off. 4. They said that there will be a mid-cycle review and end of the cycle review, no one gave me mid cycle review or went over with what do they want to see. 5. In my last review, one of the mentions was that I didn't write much of my own code. However, no one asked to see it, so don't be like me, show every line of code (in my case it was more than 200 lines in a month of hard work, I've checked later, after the review, in VS code). 6. If I had some questions, I had to figure out myself. No one was there to help me, especially the last 6 weeks of my internship. 7. I was surprised to see that if someone had a baby, other employers can chip in. The company doesn't give any gifts from the company to the parents who just had babies..? I was a bit confused. I was happy to chip in though. 8. They give interns Windows computer and if you are working on WSL as dev environment to avoid a lot of admin right requests to install something, be prepared to contact tech support a lot in this case too because there can be a lot of tech issues (in 1 week I had to contact tech support at least 3 times to reinstall WSL).
