Pros

Flexible work environment, strong team, positive attitudes and company culture, international travel, strong ethics, cutting-edge product with a beautiful UX, one of a kind product in the marketplace, growing rapidly, great location in Midtown, reasonable working hours, start-up feel without the start-up hours, if you work hard you are rewarded. Incredibly transparent. Retention-focused. You will grow.

Cons

Competitive Dutch Salaries (on the slightly lower end of the average). Young company that is constantly rethinking it's structure. Internal struggle between Ams HQ and American office. Product is constantly evolving so it's difficult sometimes to stay on-top of the latest iteration and maintain "expert" knowledge. "Sales-First" mentality can be as harmful as it is productive. There will be difficult late nights (as there always is). R&D is mostly in Amsterdam.

Old Products, Horrible Leadership

Pros

Some of the best people I've ever met

Cons

Let's face it...Backbase filled...past tense...a gap in a bank's customer journey that has now been rendered moot by cheaper, easier to configure solutions. Worse yet, its delivery arm is the worst I've ever seen. They are so focused on booking revenue that they forget to actually deliver something of value. It's no wonder that many long-standing customers are running for the hills or to their attorney's office. Lastly, this organization is led by a CEO that treats his employees like garbage. Singularly, the worst interpersonal skills displayed by a senior executive. Unemployment is better than Backbase.

Pros

Some very dedicated, hard working and nice coworkers who can have fun Attempting to change the cons

Cons

The demands by upper management can be tough and unforgiving. Corporate centric culture rather than focused on people. Small recognition given to those who put in the time, more about the company succeeding for the good of profits rather than self growth and learning. VERY focused on sales, the number game but disregard actual delivery. Personal life often overlooked and pushed to the side. Although a rather flat hierarchy, a lot of energy is put towards impressing sales and executives because they had the loudest voice and therefore the most power to fire/hire. Employees must expect direct conversations, small amounts of empathy and extended hours/personal time sacrifice.
