Pros

Coworkers are nice. I guess.

Cons

David Morken is a poor leader. He forced the staff back to the office with ZERO mask mandate, no query into vaccination statuses, and no tracking. If someone tries to speak up or vice concerns they are told to “Stand down” as if they were an enemy army. All he cares about is the perception of culture but Bandwidth has none. All they do is force people into an unsafe office because they’re an “in person” culture (which is a meaningless statement). People are leaving left and right. The pay is very low, only directors and above get any kind of bonus, there’s no ESPP, and zero flexibility for remote work. This place is a full on catastrophe disguised in a cult like sphere of happiness. Run away.

The safety and peace of mind of our Bandmates is a priority -- while we have a preference for the collaboration and innovation that comes from in-person work, team members have always had the flexibility to accommodate special situations. Additionally, while mask mandates are in place, anyone at any of our locations may choose to work remotely. In these unprecedented times, we continue to focus on our unique culture and Whole Person Promise of meaningful work plus a full life. We hope you'll reach out to People Services with your feedback.

Pros

Good benefits, especially if you are starting a family. In my experience the majority of the employees are very nice people. The workout lunch benefit is great.

Cons

When I started at Bandwidth three years ago I thought it’d be the place I retire. After going through how the company has handled COVID though I see how some things that didn’t bother me much when I started have big impacts on the company’s trajectory and it’s employees now. Unfortunately it mostly seems to come directly from the CEO. Most of the other reviews here are true. They reluctantly let us work from home. They pushed people to come back to the office. They sent weekly and daily emails advertising free lunch for people that came in. We got emails about people with COVID attending company events. They required all employees to come into the office June 2nd with no rules for mask wearing, vaccinations, etc. The CEO did say if you don’t want to come in then than it might not be the company for you. It breaks my heart. On top of all of this the actual product and teams are split between being a telecom network or being a software platform and many competitors have outpaced us because of it.

Thank you for your feedback. Our unique culture is built on the close collaboration and creative energy of working in person. That’s why we’re building a new headquarters campus with great amenities to continue growing in a culture of being together. We encourage Bandmates to reach out to their manager or People Services to address special circumstances.

Pros

Teammates and lower level management are fantastic. I don't think I could ask for a better group of people to have worked with and learned from. My management was very supportive of my career goals and growth while I worked here, and empowered me to continue growing and learning.

Cons

Salary and overall compensation is below current market rates by a decent margin. Benefits/insurance are only exceptional if you have a family, otherwise they're about average. Upper level management decisions and directives are often implemented with no input from the employees affected or their management in many cases. Strong emphasis on fitting every team into the same mold, with little room for self organization of teams. Little flexibility related to wfh before the pandemic, and no one could tell me what the policy on this would be as time went on. My managers were open to a mixed office/wfh schedule, but said it was ultimately not up to them. Bandwidth's covid response made me embarrassed to an employee of the company. The CEOs (conservative) personal beliefs and principals greatly influenced all company policy surrounding the pandemic and often went against or ignored CDC reccomendations. Finally, on a personal note, I found the praying at the beginning of every company-wide all-hands meetings to be very non-inclusive and often made me uncomfortable.
