This feedback was a catalyst for meaningful, positive change within the company. Since this was written, leadership has taken time to think deeply and make many significant changes to help positively impact company culture, including: creating clear, helpful feedback documentation and processes to aid in communication (even more important during work-from-home times); establishing better bridges for collaboration, through small team huddles and group brainstorms; and hiring a BIPOC Chief Operating Officer to oversee all things HR. We understand that only by constantly communicating with employees and refining our processes and procedures will we become closer to our goal of being the most inclusive, collaborative, and creative agency working today.

Thank you for your honesty. This was a wake-up call to make meaningful changes. In the months since this was written, management re-committed to building a creative agency that leads with dignity and respect for all our staff, clients, and collaborators and put in policy changes to make this happen. These changes included diversity, equity, and inclusion training for leadership and shifting from hourly-based wages for full-time staff to salary and unlimited paid-time-off. (This has helped alleviate communication challenges related to tracking hours and perceived discrepancies in pay.) In 2021, Bellweather’s management expanded to include a new Chief Operating Officer overseeing all things HR, alongside more transparent and collaborative communication processes. This feedback has caused Bellweather to be a more transparent workplace and we commit to continually improving our company culture going forward.

Pros

I really like my coworkers and the projects I get to work on. They allow us to work from home when we request to.

Cons

Management provides very little direction and the direction that they do provide is contradictory. No constructive feedback is given, only direct criticism in front of coworkers. I feel completely unsupported and constantly talked down to.

Thank you for sharing your experience. In the year after this was shared, we made many meaningful changes to our communication process including creating clear, helpful feedback documentation and processes to aid in communication (even more important during work-from-home times).
