Pros

-benefits -population experience for entry level -pay is sufficient (if you’re single)

Cons

-Evaluations are meaningless - unionized organization which should tell you management is incapable of running an agency without outside mediation and consultation to protect staff from overuse and basic human empathy. - flexibility does not exist. “Not your average 9-5” means you need to work when families are available not with a schedule that works for you - possibility for growth is slim to none. 3 promotions over 3 years with a 2 yr gap - growth is dependent on submissiveness and favoritism -turnover rate is absurd - Upper management lacks empathy and are dehumanized to the lives of their workers - Magnum PI couldn’t figure out the way they operate - lack of effective communication is an understatement - there is a large divide within the agency, lack of morale -no real solutions just committees as a bandage to appear that they care (ignored concerns and dismissive solution from anyone but upper management) - HR DEPARTMENT IS NON EXISTENCE - which causes a lot of “missed paperwork” and “dropped insurances” - unrealistic caseload 20-23 - consent change in operations and policies (which no one is on the same page) - lack of CEU opportunities being offered and promoted to staff - No clinical hours are available - Mediocre trainings for new hires - for a social work agency - they lack the core values of social work

Pros

I do have to say, the best thing about this job is the coworkers, the majority of people are excellent, and will help you in any way possible. It is a great work environment with your coworkers. If you want to get experience, this is a great place to do it, but DO NOT make it your end goal.

Cons

The first con would have to be upper management. They say they care about us however after working here for over two years, it is just all lies. Upper management just focuses on the numbers and that is it and getting more BHH referrals. They do not do anything to appreciate us. For every event that we have within the agency care managers have to do all the planning and have to bring all the supplies. BP never does anything to show appreciation to its employees and that is why they cannot retain people. On top of our workload, they want us to plan everything on our own such as holiday parties, team buildings, etc. It is just very discouraging because they talk so much about self care, but they dont take care of their employees. They are always coming up with ideas and new committees to discuss what they can do to change, but nothing ever gets done. ALOT of great people have left because this place has very unrealistic expectations. Since I worked their, I just felt very underappreciated. Ohh and if you know what you are doing and can handle the stress, they will use that to your advantage and they will always rely on you to take on the tougher and higher caseload. And if you are bilingual, forget about it, you burnout quicker than everyone, and do not get compensated enough
