Pros

- The dogs are amazing and the relationships you establish with clients are just as great. - Cool co-workers - Pretty easy to get into other roles (dog walking, bathing, etc)

Cons

- Handlers & Walkers are treated like nothing, even though they're pretty much the backbone of everything. There would be times where I'd be closing and cleaning up by myself while the front desk staff would be chatting away. - The management is utterly terrible. I couldn't make a shift due to a family emergency and was fired in the most unprofessional way by the manager, who then apparently lied and told HR that I quit.

Pros

The dogs of course... that's about it.

Cons

Long hours, abusive upper management, convoluted computer system made by the founders sister (and of course no critisim of it was allowed). A HR dept that refused to listen to the complaints of staff, always siding with a manager who was manipulative and verbally abusive. They pushed out what few staff that were kind and understanding to their employees.

Sorry you do not feel your concerns were heard. The structure of the HR dept. has changed, so I am not sure who you spoke to at the time you worked for the company about the manager. A lot has changed with the company, even since I joined. When I first joined, the management teams were not complete and managers were working 55 plus hours. As our management teams are fully staffed across the 10 (soon to be 11) locations, our managers now work between 40 - 45 hours a week. Also when I joined in 2013, we aligned the profile of our talent with the business strategy and started to hold managers accountable for the performance of their location. Changing the profile of our talent has had a positive impact on business. For example, locations are performing, turnover is low among our skilled positions, operations run smoother, we are seeing more internal promotions into our various roles - managers, drivers, groomers, etc.

Pros

The clients are amazing and the dogs are the best ever. Your co-workers quickly can become friends. There is a great sense of family.

Cons

The corporate team and CEO provide little support and truly have no idea what it is like to be in he front line dealing with clients and doing what has to get done.

I noticed you are using the title Location Manager. Some time may have passed when you last worked for the company. A lot has changed. Currently, the CEO has regular one-on-one meetings with the location leads and various members of the corporate team rotate through the locations on a weekly basis. This practice has been in place since I joined the company in July of 2013. Also, you may be forgetting how the company started. Both owners performed your role in the early years of the company.
