Pros

Many teammates have been helpful. Plentiful PTO. Decent medical plan. Remote.

Cons

Like other reviews state, pay is below average especially for everything that's put on your plate. A new CSO has joined and it's clear she wants to recreate the staff from her previous employer. Turnover has become a regular thing every week, voluntary and involuntary. Job description and expectations are changing weekly making it incredibly difficult to keep up, keep track and keep motivated. Others are also correct, I don't see any growth potential either. Many positions are filled by outsiders. Team comradery has significantly declined. The whole situation is quite sad and disappointing.

Pros

-- Engineering managers are excellent people and I believe they care about their direct reports. -- Work / life balance is great. -- Most other engineers are awesome teammates and great people. -- Engineering tooling / technology has been improving and moving towards more modern standards. -- The purpose of helping non-profits is a positive (even though that has been happening less and less in reality). -- In spite of all the Cons that I list below, I still believe Bloomerang is a good company. I want to see the company thrive and reestablish its culture and identity before it slips away for good.

Cons

-- Culture has shifted from empowering non-profits to empowering shareholders. Multiple acquisitions over the last few years, along with heavy turnover on the leadership team, have led to a rapid degradation of the company culture and identity. Growth for the sake of growth benefits only the investors, and is an active detriment to our non-profit customers and our employees. -- Rapid growth and expansion has led to a very vertical company matrix. Higher level leadership feels very exclusive and inaccessible, while being out-of-touch with lower levels. -- Overall Product direction seems to be steering more towards monetization and add-ons rather than enhancing the experience of our paying customers for free. -- Toxic positivity, especially in all-hands meetings. They often don't reflect the reality of the employees doing the work or the experiences our customers are going through. -- Pay is neither competitive nor consistent. They've talked about transparency, but it has mostly been lip service. I likely won't be able to afford working here for much longer unless there are investments into retaining current employees (especially long-tenured ones) over new hires. -- Medical benefits are not the greatest.

Toxic Positivity at its finest

Pros

Some very nice benefits. You feel great about working to help non-profits. Everyone has a veneer of "we're all in this together". Interview process WAS good, unsure if it still is.

Cons

Some departments lack decent training. You'll be given a demo project then not have it followed up on and expected to be a pro after watching and rewatching the same samples repeatedly before being thrown into the proverbial fire. Not to mention that the project load was insane with processes and programs being used changing so much at the time. The turnover at the time should have been a sign that things would get worse. It's all platitudes and feel good and understanding... for some. Should you have a power outage or lose net access... even if you use time off, they will tell you that you can't and demand you find a means to go out in a freeze and find internet elsewhere. Having to endure spotty internet with clients looks far more unprofessional than rescheduling, I'm just saying. If you have any sort of disability that impacts how you process things, do not bother. They speak so much about being supportive of all of the non-profits they support and their goals but don't believe it. If you are not picture perfect under an intense caseload with the sub-par training given? Scrutinized to hell and treated like an outsider. Managers are nice, but again - everyone seems nice - because the culture is absolutely steeped in toxic positivity and the pretend notion that they just /care so much/ when it's still a numbers game as with any place. If you are fine with trying to figure things out largely on your own and with the feeling that you're surrounded by Stepford Wives in terms of fake smiles? This might be the place for you.
