Pros

Days. Weekends. Paycheck sometimes correct but wrong most of the time. Supposedly flexible hours, supposedly good training, supposedly concern for patients.

Cons

Gross disregard for safety of workers and patients, completely misrepresented every single aspect of the job, training, pay, benefits, and everything associated with employment. My first week I was told to be there 4 days, then they changed everything and canceled it all. I was never even told where to go my first day or who I would train with and when I finally found out, the person they told me to train with wasn't even working there! The second "trainer" they sent me to refused to train anyone, and then they sent me to the wrong floor and accused me of not showing up! They lie from beginning to end. Chief Executive Officer JC of all initials, lies through her teeth and makes empty promises. Was shorted on my first check and instead of an apology, got lied to again. Got one day on the job sitting around doing "education" modules on nonsense and no actual preceptor or training, could not even pass meds, because the facility didn't get me credentials or training whatsoever and then expected me to perform care with zero ability to document. To top it off, they blamed it all on me. Saying, they wanted people who could jump right in and work without any training, yet every other nurse got 4 days of training and a preceptor, which was promised to me yet never received. Any professional knows if it isn't documented, it isn't done, and nurses have the right to refuse unsafe assignments. I tried quitting because of these safety concerns and was assured with more empty words and lipservice. They don't know how to run a Healthcare business nor do they care about patient safety. Nurses are a dollar signs for them, and they intentionally make accounting "mistakes" to make up for any "benefit" they "give" . I was told by my facility they were considered a travel nurse company, which they deny, yet when a friend of mine called asking for a job, they told her they were. With that said, its common knowledge they pay hotel costs, yet they make excuses for why they won't pay, despite promising to. Any concerns are responded to with fluff and lies and they twist everything around blaming the employee and contracting amnesia when you ask for what was promised. Emails are iignored as are every promise and commitment they make.

Pros

The only thing I can think of is I love My ("Yes my clients") and their family, and the fact that payday is every weekly.

Cons

This is a company that cares nothing about the Clients, or the employees that are in the actual field doing the foot work And as a CNA you definitely better sit back and keep quiet. You get Way more respect in the Office sitting at a desk behind a cubicle on a phone they even get benefits and 401k. They just started to use the Vesta clock system for care providers and that's no problem there's landline token and cell phone option Bright star did not give the client the right to those options client is to take tokens and hang them on a door knob in the home somewhere. If a client has concerns they never are heard. The second an actual employee on the field with the clients has an Idea, opinion anything to say you are told by the arrogant owner Mr. Wong "the younger gentlemen, who are you? you are nobody to say anything.you are an employee of bright star" like we are products are materialistic things to be owned, you don't have a voice as the face of the company without CNA's, nurses, Ot ,Pt, Clients first and foremost this company wouldn't have one red penny unless Mr. Wong and HR gets out in the field and see what hands on actually is. the list can go on and on but who has the time. Please hear this put your applications in elsewere if you want to be treated with respect and not like a contracted slave with no voice. Work for a company with a boss who believes in equality not Brightstar.

Very demanding job

Pros

Salary was OK. Health Insurance and PTO were part of the package. It is a franchise system so each location is owned by an independent licensee. Home health is a growing industry with the aging of the population so job should be secure into the future.

Cons

There is never enough time in the day to complete every task. The industry is highly regulated and subject to audits. Expect 70+ hours per week. Changes in health care will squeeze margins and increase risk. Life balance is the reason I left.
