Pros

Bronto has honestly been one of the best places that I have ever worked. I would not be the person or in a progressing career had it not been for Bronto. This starts with the CEO and COO, Joe Colopy and Chaz Felix. That have built a dynamic and engaging culture that you will not find at any other software company. From the first day to my last day at Bronto I felt like I was important, part of something that meant something. This is the part that it made it so difficult for me to leave. There would be days when Joe or Chaz would just ask me how I was doing or talk about technology for 15 or 20 minutes. How many other companies have you worked for where you have that kind of access to your CEO? I would venture to say not many. From the beginning I was given the opportunity to express my opinions and my thoughts. This to me was right on par with real world Business School. I learned how to critically think and learned how a company should grow. This will prove be the single best career move I have ever made, by joining Bronto. It has set me up for the many opportunities that I have today. I will always check in to see how Bronto is doing. Could not have ask for a better experience over the last 5 years. Bronto has meant a lot to me and I will always thank them for everything they have afforded me.

Cons

There will always be things that you are not satisfied with. But you will find these things at any company you work for. I am not one to ever harp on the negative. For my time at Bronto this was pretty few and far between.

Pros

Free food, people who aren't management are generally nice to work with

Cons

They say "we win and lose as a team" at Bronto, but that couldn't be further from the truth. If a manager didn't hit his number, get ready to be thrown under the bus! For sales, it's all about how you did the quarter before, regardless of previous quarters or more importantly, how you did on an annual basis. As most educated people in sales know, you'll have great quarters and not so great ones. Not at Bronto! Hit less than 100%, or should I say, have a manager not meet his quarterly quota, start looking for another job! Effort, activities, relationship building, hours you put in, etc don't count. If you want a meaningful career (especially sales), where you can learn and grow - look somewhere else! Very political environment. Hard work and accomplishments get you nowhere; who you're friends with or kiss up to makes all the difference.

Pros

Extra-curricular activities seem to be the priority.

Cons

Bronto is one giant smoke and mirrors operation. They pride themselves on philanthropic community and being a grass roots organization, but when you peel back the onion the upper management seem to more concerned with image than a good product and honest place to work. Bronto tried to scale quickly in 2011 and they hired rapidly with lots of false promises based on market strength and new customer acquisition. Bronto was never and will never be able to compete at the high end of the email market. Just ask their handful of high end customers that were oversold and duped into thinking that Bronto has an adequate solution for global retailers. They fired a ton of employees once this realization was obvious . All profit it appears go towards marketing, events, the owners pockets, and building a cute facade for the big green happy dinosaur. Perhaps they should invest in their dinosaur age product and stop teaching their sales people and account managers to lie to prospects and current customers. They also force all employees to share motel rooms when travelling for work. Awkward, uncomfortable, and completely unreasonable for an enterprise software company. They force senior employees to bunk up with colleagues for a full week on the road because they can't afford a $79/night room at the Fairfield Inne, but they can afford a kegorator with 2 full kegs of beer at all times and an endless supply of inflatable green dinosaurs.
