Pros

I came on six months ago and have already been promoted from Data Specialist to a management position. This company is growing so fast, there are tons of opportunities for the go-getter or the employee with management experience! This company is so SUPPORTIVE of the creative process! I see something to fix, have an idea to fix it, the gates are open for me to run with it. If I succeed, we all win; if I fail, I'm not punished (as long as I fail honestly and admit it before too much damage is done). Work can be boring. Build.com makes it as palatable as possible with: free organic fruits delivered weekly, a keg of Sierra Nevada every Friday, fully stocked kitchens, adjustable-height desks (so I can stand up and move around while I work), ping pong, darts, PS2, competitions, FREE CLASSES, free fresh-ground coffee, and frequent events.

Cons

Well, it is still WORK.

Its nice to occasionally get an "Atta boy" rather than railed here on GD. Great comments and great feedback. We're guilty of all of the above. I try and draw out the wallflowers, because I agree, they do sometimes have the best ideas. Thanks for your support!

Pros

I met some truly great people at Build.com

Cons

No job security as they fire as many people as they hire. Most of the supervisors have been employed with the company less than a year and therefore are not as helpful/knowledgeable as they should be. HR is a complete joke. If you want to succeed in this company you have to be a major brown noser

Guilty as charged. With over 600 people in Chico, we don't please all of the people all of the time, and its human nature to go out of your way to vet grievances. Glassdoor is a great place to do so. However, of those 600, there are a lot of people who are having a great time at Build.com and really think we're a premium employer ( myself included.) I told them that if they wanted to leave feedback please do! No arm twisting, no veiled threats, no "must be a positive review" talk. So yes, the positive reviews came pouring in. Of course they would, we really strive to make Build.com a great place to work. In fact, Glassdoor give me the ability to send their template out to everyone. I may do it again today. All that being said, it sounds like you are having a really poor experience here. The advice I can offer is that if you are in sales, and you are hitting really great sales numbers, there should be nothing stopping you from advancing and your job should be secure. If you are missing numbers, and looking for help from HR, its likely that sales may not be a department that suits you. Maybe you could apply for a role in data, marketing, or brand management? Thank you for the advice, but I'm unclear on what happened that effected you in a way that was negative? We are growing so we're always adding headcount and employees and I'm not quite clear on what people are worried about? If you are worried about your position because you are struggling with sales, as I mentioned, another department may be a better path for you. Regardless, we appreciate everything you do, and I hope you are able to communicate your concerns in a way that solves your grievances with Build.

Pros

It's a great company to work for, and they do their best to make sure you know all there is to know about the company you represent. Working for Build isn't just a job... It's a career, and a great one.

Cons

If you're not good at multitasking, then that would be the only con..
