If you're someone who simply needs hours to make ends meet and some decent health benefits, Builders may be a good place for you.
Cons
Advancement is hard, nearly impossible even, and it is possible to work yourself into a corner where you cannot be promoted. From my experience, managers did not have a very positive opinion of the manual laborers and even looked down on them occasionally. Turnover rate is very high, and you'll see multiple managers come and go. I also witnessed quite a bit of discrimination and Title IX issues during my time there. It's a very male-driven industry, so it can be hard on women.
